GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

GO RER still has some legs but it looks like the completion date is now 2028; the construction period has been extended.

Also some indication that IO expects both Hamilton and Hurontario LRT to proceed. I consider that a far stronger sign than Metrolinx stating it.

"the first-phase Early/Enabling Works, package 2 Off-Corridor projects and package 3 On-Corridor works (now called OnCorr) — at $16.2 billion."

What are the two off-corridor and three on-corridor projects again?

Off-corridor: GO stations modification, expansions.
On-corridor: adding tracks, grade separations, electrification

^I hope this is done on a phase-in basis. They can bring 20 - 30 min AD2W diesel services in the not so far future. I can't imagine having the existing service level till 2028.

Thanks. Where do the Bowmanville, Kitchener (minus the bypass tracks), and Niagara Extensions fit in? Are they on or off?

I would think so, especially for the on-corridor improvements. The new trackage along the Stouffville corridor won't stay idle until the corridor is electrified, for example.

2028 may be the completion date, but this isn't like a subway or LRT project where it goes from being completely closed to being open overnight. There may be big milestones like "as of next Monday the Lakeshore Line will be operating using electrified vehicles", but the tracks those vehicles use will likely have been in use by diesel trains for some time already.

Wish I hadn't gone looking - where have the last two years gone?

Worse, here's the *REAL* take-away from the article, and the only one I find worthy of noticing. The rest is all about shifting in their seats and pretending it's motion:
Toigo said the RER project is not immune from the provincial government’s review of all major projects planned for the province.

I don't think I need to interpret that...

Bowmanville, Kitchener, and Niagara are not part of core GO Expansion/Formerly RER, and are being tendered separately. I believe the bridge over the 401 for the Bowmanville extension is in the design phase right now.

Shoring underway on the west side of the Weston Sub at Torbram Rd. The east side. A huge hole in the centre of the road on the north side and very protected.
