"GO Station Gate Terminal" is a fantastically confusing name.

Is it describing the terminus of a gate at a GO Station?
Is it a gate for a GO Station (Terminal)
Is it a Go Terminal at a dyslexicly-named station at a place called "Gate"? ("Station Gate" instead of "Gate Station")

Thankfully DonValleyRainbow gave the hint that Station Gate is a road! Upon which there is a GO Terminal!

So freaking meta.

Bloor Station will finally be completed either by the end of the month or early Jan.

The new fare booth for the walkway from Dundas is setup, but none of the 3 elevators for it and the platforms are working.

The new pickup and drop off loop is none and mark behind the area where the Discount Trucks part in the Dundas Plaza where Freshico is.

There will be a number of access points to the east platform from the Trail and waiting concrete that should be pour this week.

Both platforms are still setup for 6 cars even thought the full 12 car is there now.

The construct/storage area is almost clear to make way for the development plan for the site.

Glass overhead is about to go in on Bloor St for the entrance.

Lot more up on site

Looks like that last platform will not be activated for a quite a while. A provision to activate in 10 years, in the electrified era, I presume.

Well I've always wondered about where they will send Milton line trains when they start offering GO service on the North Toronto sub. Maybe some could continue along midtown instead of heading down the lower Galt, relieving the need for a 6th track?

Having trains on the North Toronto Sub is decades away and the 6/8th track will be in place long before then.

You have to built 2 more tracks on the sub before CP will allow any GO trains to go east of the Weston Sub. The Weston Sub has provision for those 2 tracks now and the Davenport Grade Separation will have it as well.

It may mean various grade separations will have to be built before trains can use these new tracks and that will cause major issues at most crossing that exist today.

Bulk of the riders are going to Union and any train to Spadina and Yonge Station on the sub will mean a longer travel time for riders as well no room for them on the Yonge line today, let alone when service starts. Some room on the Spadina Line.

The time frame for adding track 1 is 10 years and beyond, depending on the quality of service. Since the Liberal will most likely be remove from power in 2018, the RER will be roll out a lot slower than currently plan or scrap depending who comes to power.

It also depends on what CP does/wants over the next 10 years for the Galt Sub (Milton Line) considering the 3rd track was to be in place by 2011 to Milton and the election platform called for 4 tracks to Milton by 2021/22.

If the Missing Link were to go through successfully however, this would change things dramatically. No need for any new track (in these corridors, obviously needed for Missing Link)

Still a decade away at earliest even if Missing Link is a possibility.

This is what I'm saying. And with the province approaching the feds about this now, I don't think 10 years is unrealistic, given it coincides with the target for RER on all lines.

Both CN and CP have had it far too good for far too long and it's about time they starting putting in a big chunk of their own cash to make way for passenger rail and not just in Toronto.

Why would CN and CP do that? They own their own lines thus they have control over them. If the Missing Link was to be built, I would expect 0% of the funding to come from CN and CP.

Going out on the limb, no one over 20 on this board will see the missing link in their life time.

Unless CN & CP work together on a joint line or one buys the other, Metrolinx is going to have to build 1-2-3 extra tracks in those corridor to get RER to work on their dime.

Neither CN or CP should be paying the bill since CP has own their corridor since 1880's while CN since 1920's.

You want transports off the roads and goods in your place, then the goods must move by rail since most stuff comes off shore and 1,000's miles away in the first place.

GO Transit (Metrolinx) need to rethink how they are going to move people not only 5 years from now, but 25+ years down the road. This will require grade separations along the corridors, more stations, 200 km service on long haul routes, let along higher speed. You are looking at Ottawa-Kingston-Windsor-Niagara Fall corridor as the backbone of the system as well going north to North Bay.

The Province needs to understand that it must build an HSR system and be part of the RER. VIA Rail will cease to exist in southern Ontario like it does today and only provide service outside of Ontario or beyond Thunder Bay. It will offer service along the route that meets their needs compare what it does today.

To do this, the current budget on funding is a drop in the bucket and will take decades to build.

Most of all, smaller trains with high service is needed yesterday, let alone tomorrow. It means a totally different system to service the 416 & 905 that doesn't exist today and accepting it than the burying the head in the sand that taking place today.
