$350 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost in 20 years when there is so much congestion that they will have no choice but to build it.First Nations board members resign from Island Corridor Foundation board
The First Nations board members had made an unsuccessful motion recommending the foundation tell provincial and federal governments it was abandoning the idea of restoring rail service on the Island.www.timescolonist.com
I think this basically seals it. It is virtually guaranteed now that rail service will not return to Vancouver Island.
Other than perhaps in the Greater Victoria Area, I doubt congestion is a good argument for this 290 km route.$350 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost in 20 years when there is so much congestion that they will have no choice but to build it.

The First Nations are right. There is absolutely no net positive BCR case to bring back service on this corridor. Beyond the flimsy justification, neither the federal or provincial governments have shown even the slightest bit of interest in this project. In fact the Horgan even said that he doesn't see its return as likely.$350 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost in 20 years when there is so much congestion that they will have no choice but to build it.

You know that they are doing that to satisfy the fact that we stole their land and are capitalizing on the resources. I hope that there is a plan to properly remediate the area after its mined.I thought there was some discussion about a new rail connection. I wonder if that may still happen.

Admittedly, my attention to the project has fallen off the past couple of years, and the ownership of the claims has gone through a few hands, so I'm not completely up to speed, but I'm not sure a railway is off the table, perhaps just down the road.I thought there was some discussion about a new rail connection. I wonder if that may still happen.
