Finch West Line 6 LRT

A lot of problems with the Alstom vehicles is that they are built like absolute shit.

You shouldn't have spongy floors or poor-fitting access panels on brand new vehicles. Wall and kick panels should not feel like they're made of construction paper.

And we thought Bombardier was bad.

Is this an issue of poor specs? Or is this Alstom going off-spec during construction/assembly and if the latter, should Mx not have declined to accept delivery?

This is an Alstom issue, not an MX one.

The cars in Ottawa are built the exact same, and with the exact same warts. If anything, the Finch cars have a slightly better fit-and-finish - but only slightly.

In that case though; do you feel acceptance should have been declined?

*Nit pick: Alstom Canada vehicles. Alstom vehicles not built in Canada are a-okay in my books. Flexity Freedoms bought after 2021 are technically Alstom Canada too.

Oh boy...urbantoronto is about to explode
So Metrolinx handed the TTC a turd, which the TTC was unprepared to catch. Upper range trip times over 60 minutes are unacceptable. Why bother "scheduling" 46 minutes like it's some aspirational goal for a Sunday afternoon hike. Maybe the 90 second dwell times and the breakdowns are the friends we made along the way.

I will say that the runner beating the LRT isn't crazy impressive given the current trip time. I'm a decent, middle aged runner and can still do a sub-50 minute 10k.... I may go this weekend and race the LRT just for fun!

Of course, they should speed this up so that only elite runners are faster!

Listening to the City Hall session - someone made a great point. That when the LRT was pitched it was supposed to be 33-34 minutes and their decision was based on that estimation. In retrospect, would the city have bought into the Finch LRT at current speed? Not sure...

I got to say that it's kind of rich that some are complaining about the number of stops slowing down the line when they fought to have the Sunnybrook stop added on line 5
