It really will feel like the 512 St Clair with wider stop spacing, less traffic lights and pay before you board. The 512 isn't bad with the Flexity's now. It's pretty much operates like a low end LRT now.

I'm worried that a few of them will end up sidelined from collisions. 2 is a really low spare number. They might have to bring some spares from Eglinton. How is the ION holding up?

Eglinton is going to be running different LRVs though. Eglinton will have Bombardier Flexity Freedoms and Finch is going to be using Alstom Citidalis Sprints (same as Ottawa's Confederation Line and the Hurontario LRT). They were supposed to be the same, but after the streetcar mess, Metrolinx changed plans and moved to Alstom trains for Finch. Hypothetically you could use them on the same line, as they have the same track gauge, but the maintenance yard at Finch isn't going to be built to support both kinds.
It is weird they keep showing Flexities in the renderings though, given Metrolinx has been clearly using a Citidalis in all their press materials.

Different LRVs won't prevent them from operating on the Line. However if the communicating devices aren't compatible for triggering transit signal priorities and entering the underground terminals, that will be a problem.

This is the same map as it appeared in the 5 years plan survey a month or two ago. In fact nothing here has changed since TTC's forecast report dating December 2013 except route numbers:
All in a sudden these map pop up as news but in fact it really isn't. Things might change once TTC completes their survey in 2022.

What's with the sections between Janes/Finch and Signet Arrow, and Martin Grove and Westmore? They are shaded differently.

Apparently, fulfilling the spare ratio here has been extremely difficult. While Keolis is able to replace parts on the LRVs after collisions quite quickly, they still don't have enough vehicles to run trains at 8-minute frequencies. From what I've heard though, they have a solution to fix this, all to be confirmed to the public in the coming months.

If you look closely, those are bus route lines. The 927 will continue to operate in parallel between Hwy 27 and Martin Grove before turning north while the 99 continues that loop for Arrow Road garage bus drivers.

In that case, I take it 36 Finch West will be shortened to run between Finch and Finch West station.

That is the current plan, yes. The stop spacing of the Finch West line will be such that there won't be a need for a paralleling local bus line.
