Taking a ferry in those day would certainly add to the wonderful experience of attending a game.
Remember, traffic problems were not as they are now, and there was no TV to distract baseball fans.
Life was simply lived at a slower pace.
The first night baseball games, played under lights, was around the 1930's. Though likely most games were afternoon games, or as long as daylight was available. However, since lights would have been "new" and expensive, they would have been used sparsely.
