Leanne's post about the 'grandfather, munitions worker' (see above)
reminded me of the GECO (General Engineering Co.) munitions plant
that was built on the farmlands of Scarborough during WWII.
The site was on the S. side of Eglinton, between Warden and Birchmount.

I was always under the impression that the Mary Pickford Bungalow was used in a lottery to win the new home.
My parents took me to see that house when I was about 9 - I expect they must have bought a "share."
According to r937's photo of a ticket (above post), there's no mention of a "raffle"
so I may have been mistaken in the use of that term when I made this montage in 2011.

Nice pic Goldie. Wish I still had my Speed Graphic.
My Dad was photographed by Pringle and Booth for company report or catalogue. Since he has hair probably taken in the mid 1930s.

Is that Hanlan's Point Stadium middle-left?

The stadium where Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run.

It is ............ here's another view:

very strange that you would have to take a ferry out to see a game....city fathers even then had excellent decision making skills...

Taking a ferry in those day would certainly add to the wonderful experience of attending a game.
Remember, traffic problems were not as they are now, and there was no TV to distract baseball fans.
Life was simply lived at a slower pace.
