Doors Open Toronto

I've seen the new subway map in the train. It is impressive the speedy construction of these stations. Canadians are sophisticated and place serious determination toward infrastructure. I live in the Republic of Panama where construction of the metro train took 5 years for completion. By casualty, when the new stations will be open for the public?

It is not too different here....

Have the Doors ever Opened at the new Hotel X on the CNE grounds?
There seems to be no web site dedicated to the hotel that was announced to open in December, 2017.
The TorStar reported in Feb. 2017:
"--The Hotel was first granted approval to be built in Dec. 2009.
--Work began in January 2013.
--The hotel, which appears to be near completion from the outside, still has some work remaining (TorStar - Feb. 2017)."
Has the building been abandoned or is it in business today?

YES, very happy to see the Law building at U of T on the list! Surprised it wasn't on it in past years. Beautiful building. Especially Flavelle House- easily my favourite building at U of T. The grand fireplaces, the lobby ceiling, and the former dining room are highlights to see! A lot of original mosaic on the floor is also visible in the Rowell room and the west main floor hallway. There are also photos around the building of what rooms looked like back when Joseph Flavelle and Lady Flavelle lived there.

The official Doors Open map on their site has a location tag on top of University College though- that's going to throw some people off.

I went to the Toronto Dominion Centre's 54th floor for a tour of the boardroom of the bank of the same name.

The place has been untouched since 1967. Even the furniture. So it all looks like a movie set or time capsule. And there is artwork by Riopelle and Bush, so the lady said.

And they let the bank's chairmen write their names under the furniture.

And all that wood on the walls came from trees on Lord Mountbatten's estate.

How about that?

You'd think they'd spend some money to freshen the old place up. :)

Wow these photos are great. Never would've thought something like this would be in doors open. Feel like I could freely have a midday scotch and slap a bottom or two in there. As I'm being taken away in cuffs: 'B-b-but, the *furnishings* made me do it'.

I believe it was on the schedule back in the mid 2000s (I recall visiting for Doors Open in 2006). Hopefully it's available again next year. Couldn't make it out this weekend but appreciate all the pics.

I forgot to add this scan of a postcard I got at the TD Doors Open..

I enjoyed Doors Open today. We visited the Don Jail (was first in line, rain and all) and then Red Path. Turns out anyone can tour the Don Jail anytime as it’s always open. Red Path was very interesting, and the doughnuts were great.

Now looking through the list to consider tomorrow’s visits.
