Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I did the survey, focusing on any option to keep the area as natural as possible with access to the water for swimming.

Aren't the demographic sections pretty much mandated by the city for any surveys they do? I see the same questions every time I do any survey.
 
One of my neighbours got this a day or so ago from cycling about the pause in work on The Esplanade west of market Street:

"The remaining work along the Esplanade (Market to Scott Street) has been delayed due some technical issues. Minor amendments to the bylaw are required before the work could proceed. These changes are expected to be enacted shortly, and we anticipate that the remaining work will be completed by the end of August.

As mentioned, the rest of the cycling improvements will be bundled with the DCPR project. I’m just looping in Nancy Chater, who provide additional updates on this timeline."

Ominously, no minor by-law amendments came to Council yesterday so .... Grrrrrrr

Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik put forward a motion with some amendments related to Esplanade-Mill, but not sure if they will address those issues you have.

Good catch, here are the details. I THINK they are adjusting parking and they may extend one-way system.

Anyone have any idea when the work on COMMISSIONERS between Carlaw and Leslie will happen. The street seems quite wide enough for the bike tracks west of Carlaw to be continued to Leslie and link with the MGT. It does not look difficult to do and it would be a GREAT IDEA! (I just emailed the City cycling team, if/when they respond I will post.)

My docs show it scheduled for this year.

This would be 'interim' cycle track, not the deluxe version.

The road is scheduled for hydro work in 2027 and Toronto Water in 2029.
 
^^^^, someone reminded me, this project hasn't actually been through Ctte/Council for approval yet. That means, at the earliest, it would be in the October I&E report and go to the following Council.

That would make it very tight to deliver it this year.
 
I was up in G Ross Lord park yesterday and found much of the trail system below Steeles was "closed" (rather halfheartedly) for sewer trunk work.

They have put in temporary service bridges across all the creek crossings for construction equipment, there is mud and some materials on the trail and a few machines scattered around, but otherwise very rideable with a wider tire.

Probably more of an issue during the week if work is progressing.

At the Steeles entrance I found project signage indicating November 2024 completion. It's obviously nowhere near done.

I can't find anything more up to date, as there is just a 2022 pre-construction notice online citing Sept. 2024 completion.

TO Inview shows a 2019-2026 construction period, which is quite a span.

I did find an instagram post by Pasternak, saying there would be closures a few weeks back, but those were for pavement rehab, not for the main closed part of the trail.

Anyone have any intel on when this trail is going to be back to normal? I may email the city contact, and await a response with bated breath.

Not this year. Possibly due to uncertainty with the province's bike lane removal / approval plans. But it would be great if the City used this lull in building new lanes to spend some time and resources improving the bike lanes we already have.

Initial thought was that this is pretty lackluster since I think the street was widened recently (just a painted lane on only one side - why not protected if the street is going to be reconstructed anyway?), but I don't know if this is temporary. School bus loading makes it harder to add nicer infrastructure on the west side?

Map I have from 1996 shows Denison as one way here (like the rest of Denison). Curious if there was any plan to have this little block return to one-way south if Augusta will re-connect between Dundas and Grange at some point.
