Corktown

So after a solid 9 months of being 'closed for renovations', it looks like the Dominion has sold. It seemed that work was being done in fits and starts, sporadically over the months. We got a brief glance in the other week and the inside looked radically different. Over the last couple years, it definitely felt that the Dominion had more potential than what it was delivering. Maybe this is that opportunity for a fresh start.

Not surprised. "Closed for renovations" sign is usually the death knell.

So when you say it was sold, does that mean the new owners will re-open it as a pub?

The Facebook posting seems to say exactly that:

"This is an exciting juncture for the Dominion On Queen – and indeed for Corktown – and I look forward to watching how the new owners carry forward with everything we worked hard to build."

2 of the 3 buildings built by Streetcar on King St at Cherry have lost the car dealerships that went in when the buildings open. It will be interesting to see how long they will sit empty, considering how long it took to get retail in the other units.

The CBRA conducted a neighbourhood survey concerning these vacated car dealership storefronts and found overwhelming demand for a grocery store. I think they've forwarded the results to the leasing agent for these properties, who will hopefully act on this information.

IMPACT KITCHEN: Impact Kitchen, the new healthy eatery at 573 King East (at St. Lawrence) is set to open this Thursday, October 8 at 8 a.m.

This from CBRA Newsletter seems to be true, they were installing a bench outside today.
