I found this in a competitions site, or something like this..It is a proposal for a new Tower in Toronto, designated for the area around the train tracks-for CN and Royal Trust. Not sure if this is new or old..looks pretty new- and the date says 2002..so??This is the winnning entry..
anyway have a look:

not such a bad design, a lot of glass and metal i would suppose. I don't mind the large curved glass facade, adds a little bit of differentness-always blocks and corners-etc..

That is a good looking development.

Sorry, I am a bit confused. Is this a proposal for an actual building that will be built at an actual site?

Probably the site of the Higgins (?) tower or the Fairmont Hotel.....

Didn't Royal Trust go bankrupt (or at least was taken over by one of the banks) 5-10 years ago? Can't see them having need for a new building. I'd say its old.

A boxy office building with some curved walls to make it stand out.

I don't find anything especially unique about it.

The wave design is nice... like most things it could be better.

no question..that it isn't great..but its not bad! It has some potential, compared to many buildings in this city!
I found it on a competitions site-but the link is from Dunlop Architects, Toronto! I wouldn't be surprised if this is kind of old-due to the fact that it is a model and not a rendering!

I am not sure for what section of the city is what meant for, but i would guess somewhere around the Skydome..

anyway....could work???

I think this is very cool and I would love to see it move ahead. It's only about 18 stories or so, perhaps that is do-able even in the current climate.

Royal Bank owns Royal Trust now. All of the retail branches have were absorbed into Royal Bank branches several years ago, but as far as I know, Royal Trusts commercial operations are still in the Royal Trust Tower at the TD Centre.

My guess would be the trizec-hahn re-development project for 151 Front (ugly brick ~6 storey slab neighbouring Citibank)
It was pre-leasing just recently as a 16 storey tower. BTW, The Higgins development is a 32 storey slab!

Just checking through old files this was an old proposal from around 1988 on the site where the Matrix and Apex condos now stand.

Interesting. The first thing that strikes me is that it seems all of the interesting features of this design are seen in the renovation of the mid-rise building on the west side of university, down around Adelaide or Wellington. Same architect, maybe?
