The official (virtual) launch was this evening, with barriers removed, seating added, etc. But it was the obelisk that stole the show. Love it!

This obelisk is stunning! Gorgeous details and I love the references of old Toronto maps!

It's a nice gesture, but I find the proportions a little off - the base is too wide for its height.

The obelisk itself is interesting and the idea of a parkette here is a good idea. However when I went here and sat down it lacked a sense of place or a feeling of wanting to hang around for a little while. No trees or plantings either.

Why are the benches so close to the obelisk?! They're too close for people sitting to really appreciate the piece in its entirety and only deters passersby from coming up close to engage with it - I don't get it! I also would've liked to have seen more greenery, but I digress.

Anyway, I really like the obelisk, and the pavers look nice - definitely an improvement over what was there before!

One bench is for deep lounging with a soft pillow the other is more for people who prefer the fetal position.
