A massive re-think of Brampton's future, led by Larry Beasley the former chief planner of Vancouver is public.

It has to be approved by council, but if that does take place, Brampton will be a radically different (and better) place over the next 20 years.

Among the big plans are a new Uptown (south of downtown Brampton, which would be very dense and vibrant.

The downtown Hurontario LRT that Brampton should have had!
And the 407 BRT too.

....though it looks like they want to build a brand new downtown on Kennedy. And I think that 407 BRT viaduct needs to be tweaked to be less Gardineresque -- probably better trenched like Ottawa's Transitway (now LRT). The solar should be on roofs instead.

Downtown came Uptown? Maybe David Wilcox was right. Do like those glass domes, that's one thing Toronto's missing.

It's certainly ambitious, I'll give them that. More density is a good thing, especially in surburban-hell-Brampton. I wish them luck.

Also for some reason I was reminded of Dubai looking at that first picture.
