Bloor-Yorkville Scene

The big question that's been on my mind is how all these businesses can survive when most condos have gyms. It's definitely a lifestyle sale, which is how the exclusive members-only side will go, but the competition (with Equinox at Yorkville Village and soon-to-open Sweat & Tonic at 11 Yorkville) will be fierce.
Not to mention the three GoodLife gyms each less than a block or two away (for the plebes).

We now have two of the corners set, with lululemon & Sweg on the northwest and Avant/Nike/Ballroom on the southeast. Any word on the apple space and does anyone have any insights into what's happening with the former HBC site that's been sitting empty for years now? There's gotta be something in the works.

If only their name was Sweg. Instead, they have one of the worst names you could have for what is pretty good cooking equipment, Smeg.

Today, on Bloor west.

Those [underwhelming] windows under the black fins are new. The old windows had 5 panels between posts.

Do we think Apple is rethinking Bloor still? What about the Harry Rosen once it moves? or the old Holt Mens space?
The old Harry Rosen is going to be demolished eventually for a new tower at 80 Bloor, which is why they're moving. So it won't be there.

I don't think the Holt Men's space is on a prominent enough corner for Apple, plus they'd need to basically rebuild the entire exterior (and maybe interior), as it looks nothing like an Apple store.

Most likely, if they come to Bloor, it'll be in 1 Bloor West as originally planned, but no one knows if Tridel/the building's owners have talked them into coming back yet or not. But it remains the most likely option for a Bloor St store, given it's a store that was custom designed for them, by their architecture firm of choice.
