Lower the prices or be damned I say! Who will guard the guards?

There is nothing funny about this. If the copyrighted extracts were plagarized as a result of lazy intellectual effort, the promotion of views by a political lobby group flavoured the views of the Conference Board of Canada and its independence is now suspect in everything that it has done and everything that it will do. If the plagarism is not the result of a lazy intellectual effort but deliberate, then we have the independence of this Board compromised by lobbyists south of the border. In any event, just how far has Canada's New Government relied on this report (and the lobbyists) in generating new legislation? Is the draft legislation in the public interest or in the interest of lobbyists from south of the border? Does this sort of thing occur in other draft legislation or political initiatives by this government? Is this what a government which lacks policy initiatives is prone to - influence by the most power lobbyists in a less than transparent and accountable way? Transparency and accountability? About as meaningful as a made in Canada environmental policy or a balanced budget...

Well, at least the Fall election had one positive! The bill is dead, and so are some other concerning ones, such as basically outlawing natural health products, boosting Alberta seats in parliament, etc.
