Best Wedding Banquet Hall

Can anyone suggest a good wedding banquet hall in the Toronto or GTA area?

Hmmm, where do I begin...

I'm not a fan of banquet halls. I would highly recommend an interesting restaurant/lounge/club in the city. The ambiance, food, and service is almost always superior to most banquet halls.

People usually automatically think their first choice should be a banquet hall. Times have changed.

I had my wedding reception at Monsoon 2 years ago. It was unbelievable! No cheesy banquet hall could match the decor, service and food. We took the place over for the entire night, hired a DJ, and had a blast. The cost in the end was very competitive to a banquet hall...even with an open bar. The owner David Bowen was great during our wedding planning. He really took over most of the reception planning for us...right down to the flowers. He had us in for a tasting evening where we got to sample a large variety of food and wine. In the end, we were able to create a custom menu for our guests where they were able to choose which main course they wanted (we had 3 or 4 options). Usually at a banquet hall...the menu is fixed for everybody.

My guests thought that it was the most enjoyable and memorable wedding reception they had been to. Monsoon reflected my wife and I more than any hall. Ultimately, your wedding decisions should make you happy...it is of course, your wedding.

Are you getting married?

The Toronto Star recently did an article on the Mississauga Convention Centre as being one of the best places for a wedding reception.

I can a test to that, as I use to work at the centre a few years back, beautiful building, lots of free parkings, easy access from Highway 407, 401, 403, and QEW, airport, great food and friendly staff.

There are 6 halls which are usually booked up at least a year in advance.

I'm not sure about having my wedding reception in a lounge/club. Just to think that these estabishments promote primarily one thing, sex. Any way, shape, or form. And to celebrate the best day of my life in one of those places, it doesn't represent the true essence of marriage.

"Just to think that these estabishments promote primarily one thing, sex." :rollin

I was leaning more towards an establishment such as Monsoon restaurant and lounge...and not G Spot nightclub. :lol

I think Monsoon promotes contemporary interior design, quality food and service more than it promotes sex.

There are many establishments that can do everything a banquet hall can do...and more. That was the point of my post.

So I assume you proposed and it went well?

There are a lot of good banquet halls but what kind of reception will it be? Some halls specialize in certain ethnic groups.

If I were you I would reserve the Carlu that place looks sweet.

I proposed and it went well :) Thank God.

Thanks for the suggestions. Please keep them going!
Just remember that we are on a budget (not a tight one I might add) but nonetheless, we want to get the best value for our money.

Guild Inn (not sure if it is still available)
Enoch Turner Schoolhouse (not a joke)

If you're looking for a banquet hall, there are so many considerations (including capacity - depending on the size of your wedding).

Of those that can handle reasonably large parties, within the City of Toronto you should look at:

-Four Seasons Hotel (Expensive but they will provide exceptional service/quality)
-Liberty Grand @ Exhibition Place (owned by Liberty Entertainment...the Courthouse, etc.)
-Arcadian Court (Queen/Bay)
-Royal York Hotel
-Windsor Arms Hotel (Very Chic...Very Expensive)
-Spirale (Don Mills/Eglinton-this place is fairly reasonably priced)
-The Carlu (as mentioned above)

In the GTA (Outside of Toronto) there are a huge number of halls, ones to consider, include:

-Bellagio (Excellent food/service)
-Royalton
-Montecasino
-Le Parc
-Regency
-Etc.

Any opinions on the Hollywood Princess in Concord?

I don't think i've seen an uglier building, ever. No seriously, has anyone ever taken a look at this white/pink hideous thing. I think I might go take a picture of it so you can all see. Its on Highway 7 near Keele/Jane.

White & Pink? I think you are colour blind my friend. The building looks unique. The best part of HP is the inside-fountains, 2 spiral stairways, marble floor etc.

Sister had wedding reception at Hollywood Princess...out of the way, and of course exterior doesn't look like anything special but otherwise seems nice.

But we want to know whether the food was good? How long ago was your sisters wedding? What I like about the Hollywood princess is the spacious lobby/reception area. You can also take a few nice pictures inside. And each hall has its own area.

Just the fact that that place is named Hollywood Princess makes me think it would be an excellent location.
