One pic shows a complete clerestory panel.

The BC Place website says the opening is 100 metres by 85 metres.

Looks like BC Place's roof will have 2 layers.

I don't have a good telephoto lens but yes are layering the fabric above and below the ribs. You can just see the packages of fabric bundled on top.

Opening Big Dreams
Hightex has been awarded a contract to supply the entire retractable roof and the fixed façade for the BC Place Stadium. When completed, this roof will be the largest cable-supported retractable roof in the world.

The retractable roof will consist of a double layer Tenara membrane with an inflated inter-space to form “cushion” elements over an area of 6700sq/m. The cushions will be pre-stressed using hydraulic tensioning units and inflation via fan units. The retractable roof will be connected to the 36 radial cables by specially designed sliding and driving carriages. The deflated cushion will be stored at the centre of the roof in a membrane garage. To close the roof, the driving carriages will pull the membrane outwards radially towards the perimeter.

The new facade comprises some 6,000m² of transparent ETFE panels with a light-controlling frit. The 144 facade panels are pre-stressed using metal arches and are attached directly to the primary steel structure.

Hightex's total scope on the project includes the fabrication of the outer roof, fabrication and installation of the retractable roof including drive technology and the fabrication and installation of the ETFE facade.

Here's a good pic showing the podium for the new Douglas Coupland Terry Fox tribute. It's in the centre of the pic and is triangular shaped to accommodate the 4 statues as they increase in size.

My photos, from yesterday and this morning.

West side of BC Place - looks like the concourse on this side might be open to both levels:

Here are some blurry BB photos of the illuminated panels, from this morning - the right panel was bright red, green and blue, and the left panel blue and red, none of which really show up in this photo of course.

It's hard to see in this terrible photo, but three floors of the Coopers building were lit up fairly brightly by the illuminated panels - hope that doesn't become an issue...
