Is it any smoother of a ride? Honestly, it felt like a subway car going over the crossover by Jane station all the way along the track.

lack of expandability is a huge letdown. This should have been considered at the time of tender :\

Maybe they were aiming for expendibility rather than expandability?

It's expandable ... it was designed to extend to a second Terminal 1 station, if and when T1 is expanded.
But it's designed to be a simple and cheap 1.5 km or so people mover; not 5 km transit system. Why build what you don't need for 15 years? It's kind of like complaining that it's a shame that the escalator in Pape station can't be expanded to DRL platforms.
