Nice to see this area densifying. Traffic here though is going to be something else.
Traffic here (going north on Dufferin into Vaughan) is already at a standstill now most afternoons.
That idea makes far too much sense, which is how you know it will be decades before the clowns over at city hall even draw up that idea.I've long thought that this stretch of dufferin has some of the worst traffic in the city. The bus that runs on it isn't super frequent, but an HOV widening would be well warranted.
Dufferin north of Steeles operates fine since its 6 lanes.Isn't the issue here more about Vaughan than Toronto? Crossing the CN tracks and the 407 is basically limited to a few arterials (Jane, Keele, Dufferin, Bathurst etc). That means a lot of back upped traffic.
Dufferin north of Steeles operates fine since its 6 lanes.
The issue through here is Toronto since transit access is terrible, there are no secondary arterials beyond the old concession roads, and the concession roads are only 4 lanes, and the area is not really close to a freeway. Means lots of traffic.
Regardless, that stretch of Dufferin NEEDS to be widened! It is nuts! It bottlenecks from 3 lanes to 2 at Finch, then widens again at Steeles to 3! It is a brutal stretch most of the day!The issue isn't Toronto. The cars on Dufferin in front of this location are headed into Vaughan and it's the same on all of those streets I mentioned. Meanwhile Steeles is rarely a problem in this area.
