Pre-consultation on the addresses 127-133A Main Street South, Brampton by Amico Properties (on behalf of "2843385 Ontario Ltd" and "2795224 Ontario Ltd") proposing a 16-storey purpose-built rental building with a design by Teeple Architects.

133 Main St S (Kirkwood House, c. 1876) is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as a significant property of cultural heritage value or interest.

This is not in in the historical floodplain.

I'm really surprised to see this proposal because it directly threatens the twee little townscape of Main Street South below Downtown Brampton, where most of the anti-LRT opposition was back in 2015-2016 (and why we're getting an expensive mined tunnel here instead now). Despite Brampton staff and council being generally pro-development, I can't see this one getting very far.

This seems to be moving forward with no opposition from council. The heritage designation for 133 Main Street South, one of the nicer houses in the downtown area, is actually going to be repealed to allow for the development to proceed. I never thought this was ever going to be possible!
