Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

The main thing BMO field has going for it is that it's built in a soccer specific configuration despite having CFL played on it. The lowest seats are at ground level not 10m above to accomodate the large american football benches. This means the seats are much closer to the field than a...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

Taken on Saturday the 11th at sunset. Tried to get as close to the top of the stand to dissuade any fears about blocked views from the south stand. Keep in mind I'm still about 10-20 feet higher than the top seats and I could still see the full pitch with no blocked views.

I thought I saw a poll that ALTO had 60% approval amongst canadians

    Toronto 1071 King West | 62.2m | 17s | Hullmark | BDP Quadrangle

I think its north but it's somewhat elevated, there was a rendering posted here a while back Edit: I meant its fronting the rail tracks but its elevated, not sure if theyre north or south

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

As a soccer fan, my optimistic hope is that the world cup is a catalyst for the sport in the country and there's both an economic and political push to make this our national stadium with a permanent expansion to 50k+ capacity in the next decade. Like you said theres too much space to not take...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

All the world cup games are early in the day, between 12-6pm I believe. This shouldn't be as big a problem.

Alberta Conservatives are about to release their masterplan for an Edmonton Calgary HSR soon, it will be hilarious to see PP try to juggle that one

The renders have coverings for the scaffolding.

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

I think it's more likely they didn't sell out lower sections and are moving people to lower sections or upper sections in East and west stands.

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

Soccer specific stadiums with natural or hybrid grass surfaces rarely are concert venues, because building temporary stages can damage the grass. to build a multipurpose venue either BMO would have to go the turf route or they have to go super expensive like Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur stadium...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

Copa America was a general shitshow but that's par for the course with conmebol. Look up how 1000s of fans without tickets broke into the Miami stadium for the final. Fifa have their shit together in this regard. But the core point still remains that permanent grass surfaces like BMOs will be...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

Unlikely since the north end wont be completed in time for the march friendlies. Plus they still have to construct the lower temporary stand in front of it

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

The rogers stadium was made entirely of temporary seating and had jumping concert-goers at every concert for a whole summer. We don't need to randomly cast doubts on the quality when this has been done reliably before, even at BMO field itself

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

Not only will it have one of the best surfaces, but like I've said earlier in this thread, this is still a soccer specific stadium with the stands right up against the pitch making for a better fan atmosphere. In the NFL even the lowest "best seats" are raised a couple feet to accommodate for...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

In my opinion It's a wait and see decision. 2-3 years after the world cup ends if there's a steady growth in the viewership of the sport (all leagues) and attendance numbers in the country we could maybe invest in permanent upgrades to our stadiums for a more involved bid.

The pitch won't be obstructed but the view of the north stand will.

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

I cant speak for other sports but if this render of the Olympic stadium post renovation is accurate, I would agree that it's a worse fan experience for Soccer than at BMO field. Despite the stadium facilities being better the distance of the stands from the pitch would not be as enjoyable as the...

Righty tighty lefty loosey makes me think it will turn clockwise if you're standing behind the TBM or anticlockwise if you're facing it
