GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Surely there's a switch to stop the cycling. And surely they shouldn't have a sole opportunity for closing the door without having to spend 5 minutes to reset everything. It sounds like it's their design issue. But I'm sure it's more convenient for them to blame their clients.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

If the operator sees that the doors aren't clear to close, they shouldn't be trying again until they are clear. Just as clients shouldn't hold the door, operators shouldn't be using the doors as a weapon to stop half of group of people from boarding.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It's hard to imagine how a 15-second delay holding the doors would have effected the departure time. Feels there's more to this.

TTC: Lower Bay Station (closed to public)

I guess there was a conveniently located trough. (I don't now how it met the city health department standards without some kind of washroom - perhaps the ones in the shopping centres next to the station were enough)

Washrooms - that's a good question. The others seem solvable.

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I've not really heard of South Hill either - but the Wikipedia article is 15-years old (to the day!) so it's not some recent marketing scheme. The Google Maps neighbourhoods are user-sourced - and frequently wrong. Take for example Villiers Island, which is currently shown as being on Leslie...

Which is why the corridor should be a provincial corridor. By both Quebec and Ontario - or as they used to be called - Canada.

    Roads: Traffic catch all

I wasn't referring to the schedule - I was referring to the running times. TTC's inability to run proper service is a different issue. I'm not sure how the service on a bus route not on dedicated right-of-way is related to St. Clair - which route was this?

    Roads: Traffic catch all

You claimed this a few days ago in a different thread, and I went through the pre-construction July and current July schedules to show you were wrong, and asked where you were getting this. Why are you repeating this, rather than responding with the source of your false information?

    TTC: Streetcar Network

They were certainly there when I used to drive it regularly in 1994. Looked in pretty good shape too.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

I suspect there's probably more old track hidden under the asphalt than most would suspect, it was starting to rise through Danforth at one point ..., west of Coxwell I think. I've never seen it on Frederick (though there are some interesting looking cracks in the asphalt that you can see in...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

It is. Those tracks in that photo on Strathmore into Woodbine station were abandoned in 1968 - but were constructed new in 1966 for the temporary terminus. So perhaps the most recently constructed abandoned track around. Gosh, I've never noticed that, even when walking along Queen! Looks like...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The city has about 7.5% of Canada's total population and 9% of it's urban population. It seems unlikely that it will only get 3.3% of this fund. Though other big contenders like the GO Milton RER-like and the VIA HFR could get good chunks of Ontario's portion.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This seems like excellent news for the T1 replacements, which had already completed the RFP process (though presumably that can be quickly recompleted now, for a quick award). There's well over a year until the next election, and a lot of time to finalize payment schemes that future governments...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Sure, there's space when it's partially full. But it's more difficult to navigate when it's full than a subway when it's full - let alone crush-loaded. At least if you find yourself in the centre of the car, in the seats. It's certainly not as bad as some of these small-town buses with 2x2...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

What's your source for that? I'm looking at July 2005 compared to this July. The scheduled round-trip time is faster for most time periods. But on average faster (though dwell times have increased). One oddity though, is although the round-trip travel time for Saturday afternoons is 70 minutes...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

If I walk into the station, the first thing I want to know is what my options are. When is the next train coming? Has it been delayed? Then I can choose to take the subway instead, go get some food, etc. I don't find the platform information is particularly useful at that point

The current trams? With the narrow walkways in spots, as soon as someone is standing in them, and someone else tries to walk through them, it's problematic. With a similar loading on a subway train it's much easier to move around.

    VIA Rail

Wow - that's an understatement! Cascades runs great when I've used it. I'd happily take it again. And certainly better than the bus, where you all have to get off at the border.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Perhaps one is for parts, and the intent is to keep only one operational.
