    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 351.85m | 106s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Don't know if its been mentioned but the architectual plans from october show a glass crown hiding the mechanical box. Doesn't grantee anything but gives me some hope floors add up as well...

thought so at first, looks like a rabbit though

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

this is the best drawing this is the best i know of, from: https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2022/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-226596.pdf Same problem with the full LRT plan but at least terminating routes at Eglinton would provide a useful transfer downtown.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

You'd think so, but no. Metrolinx claims the tunnel wont be able to bear the weight of an LRT portal above it and has refused to redesign it even though tunneling has not yet reached that location. That's the main reason the EELRT is currently being planned as its own separate line.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Unfortunatly ML already has their hands on it, the line 2 tunnel issue east of Kennedy will make a lien 5 extension quite expensive. I think it could be feasible to build the tunnel portal on the northside of the line 2 tunnel, but there would be significant property requirement involved. I...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Problem I encounter a lot with this project is that most casual transit users will hear about the LRT plan and assume that it will be faster than the bus. That obviously changing since line 6 opened but a lot of people understandably assume that a big project like that should be delivering real...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Hoping there will be some sort of extension of off peak GO busses at some point. I bet residents and students would like the ability to go to Kitchener or Toronto for the day during the weekend, or god forbid you miss the one daily train. A very welcome extension though. Would have been very...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Scarborough residents want better transit, and this is currently the only thing on offer. Nothing about the project specifics inspire much optimism or excitement in the people I know who use the corridor every day. Improved GO service will be much more transformational.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Still perplexing to me that an option to Sheppard and Morningside was presented but not to Centennial and UTSC. Feels like an attempt to sabotage any extension east of McCowan. Unless a new eastern alignment is chosen and funded for line 4 is funded UTSC may be stuck with BRT and LRT for good

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The city is very unlikely to be the ones funding any of these subway or lrt projects so while it's interesting to see what they would prioritize, they will not be the ones deciding which project to build next

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Line is already proposed to be branched. Both the DSBRT and GO LE are already going to provide easy connections to pickering if this gets built anyway. Build it as BRT and then theres plenty of reason and opportunity to branch and even interline services with the DSBRT. Also would maintain GO...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

to make the investment worth while i think theyd have to either cut a third of the stations or preferably build it as brt alongside a line 4 extension to STC and UTSC 🙏

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Nothing official has been release. Will likely result in a lot less changes, suspect most would be around jane station, and maybe the 927 and ofc the airport express busses. Maybe a new 52 g terminus

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Not sure if they've been taken out yet but as of a couple years ago Mt Dennis station had a farebox for tokens at the main entrance. It'd be funny to see it fill up with commemorative coins.

    Toronto Bloor–Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Stupid box structure they couldn't be bothered to redesign to support another tunnel on top of it 🫠

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Big difference if its just automatically braking with normal brakes or if the emergency brakes are misfiring. Magnetic emergency brakes stop the vehicle very abruptly and can injure riders on board, and potentially do damage to the tracks.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I doubt very many people will be taking it end to end but not because of a lack of demand, but because of a lack of speed. I living near Eglinton east of Kennedy, and traveling to KW a lot, would absolutely take the line end to end to catch the Kitchener train if it were fast. Unfortunately it...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

There are plenty of street running LRTs with high floor vehicles and level boarding. Definitely not feasible on the Streetcar system anytime soon but i wasn't talking about the streetcars. Read the full message before you try and correct someone

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It doesn't matter much until trains are operating near peak capacity, but high-floor trams typically also have faster boarding and alighting times due to more spacious interior layouts, allowing for shorter dwell times at stations. Don't see it being an issue on Hurontario or Finch, but I...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Interestingly, the existing Via station is also closer to downtown as the crow flies (Ottawa station-Parliment) than Summerhill is to Union in Toronto. On the O-Train it's only about a 12 minute ride. It's not exactly an ideal walkable location but it's not nearly as far out as many are making...
