Question - are cars not legally required to pass bikes with a 1-metre leeway? In some spots, doesn't that mean that bike lanes actually allow cars to pass closer to a cyclist than they'd technically be allowed to pass if there were no bike lane at all?

When I first heard about it a few months back I was equally surprised. The new design might be more functional (maybe), but it certainly won't really feel like a crystal anymore, since it's facets will be interrupted.

I only have anecdotal evidence from when I worked in a mall kiosk, but after Christmas every year, the place would be empty until March, so not sure it's the weather that's the main reason for the cold winter sales slump.
