    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's reasonable to expect MX is the one delaying things.. they are the ones paying for it, and they want to make sure the final product is what they asked for. The TTC is just driving the trains.

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

As it currently stands, existing bus service between Western U and downtown London that use Richmond seems to be a few mins faster than comparable routes down Western Rd/Wharncliffe. At only 5km, I would say the opportunity for meaningful time savings of dedicated lanes would be somewhat...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There are way fewer seniors riding 40+ rides a month than you think. This would be a massive fare increase for the vast majority of seniors. You can argue whether or not that they deserve that. I also massively disagree with the removal of the low income pass program, which in reality should be...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Fair point, forgot the ECLRT cars will be smaller than subway. But the point still stands that the OL cars will be on the smaller side, not because automation requires it, but because they can achieve equal throughput to a manually-operated subway via high-frequency service enabled by...

    TTC: Major Operational Issues (Various)

I take Bloor to Rosedale NB daily for work. It's slow but that section has always been slower so it really hasn't gotten much worse than it was before. Lots of other sections that have been slower in the past, i.e. York Mills to Finch NB in AM rush hour pre-covid..

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The Ontario Line trains are smaller than Eglinton Line because the OL is automated. I'd imagine it would take a pretty comprehensive re-signalling effort across the whole line, and maybe targeted track upgrades, to automate the line to run the frequencies required to have those smaller trains...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I'm not sure how he's doing there, but my point was UT obsesses over the politician-type CEO candidates (Giambrone, Colle) when there are likely dozens of CEO-type CEO candidates out there that you would know from being in the industry. As @RapidTransit mentioned, a few at the TTC included -...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I don't understand UT's obsession with Adam Giambrone. The guy left Toronto disgraced in scandal and has since been working in Saudi Arabia on NEOM (the linear futuristic city that has basically ended up being a huge bust). The TTC is not going to go for someone like that. There are many more...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Having spent many years transferring between "frequent bus routes" with a linear transfer (95/96), there is certainly a big difference - because the service wasn't reliable at all often meaning long waits despite what was being advertised. In a lower traffic environment with shorter routes, it...

Guelph-Cambridge Initial Business Case - Battery Multiple Units now proposed

This entire project is led by the Region and has no involvement with Metrolinx - so I wouldn't assume that there will be any takeaways for the rest of the GGH. The next step for the Region is to get MX's blessing to advance it.

Guelph-Cambridge Initial Business Case - Battery Multiple Units now proposed

Something I find very interesting about this project, is that getting between Pinebush and downtown Kitchener will be about twice as fast by taking the train into Guelph and back out, versus the existing ION LRT + Bus arrangement. In the future, would love to see the Fergus Spur connected to...

Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

You could make that the name of this thread.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I can't seem to find a dedicated Rapid to thread - but at Council's Exec Committee there is an upcoming item to expedite transit lanes on Dufferin and Bathurst between Eglinton and Lake Shore, to support the FIFA World Cup

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

College St? Really, we should be modelling the streetcar ROWs after Europe, high-speed transit (removing close-together signalized intersections, implementing TSP, improving switches) alongside low-speed/"pedestrianized" road space for people/cyclists/cars.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think you and ARG are both missing the point here. The original mystery Reddit poster claimed to be a "testing operator". As LRVs are active on in the line in testing today, we clearly know that someone is in the cab operating the vehicle. The poster is likely one of those people on the...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Lots of goodies here for study/design. Dupont, College West, Yonge, 401 crossings at Avenue and Leslie... Seeing all of the RapidTO corridors are on here - but Dufferin and Jane both only go as far south as Eglinton. I would take that as a hint as to what their plans are with the study areas for...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

In Seattle they're partially opened their new line and I only saw journalism about how "the line is finally open"

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Uncommitted Community Transportation Grant funding was recently made available, MCC is running this route because they were able to access the funding as an existing CTG-funded service.

    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

There is no fare integration, this service is being operated by nor LTC or St Thomas Transit. And it depends how you define success... There will only be 4 daily round trips and other services operated by Voyago are dealing with frequent driver shortages and cancelled runs. Could easily be...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Of course no one thinks of all the coyotes on the fringes of the Greenbelt that have been saved by building rapid transit which unlocks higher densities and allows people to avoid living in new urban sprawl.
