    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

So now every elevator is out of service: https://toronto.citynews.ca/2026/04/20/all-elevators-at-ttc-subway-stations-out-of-service/ The reason being given is that the Passenger Assistance Intercom in subway stations is not working so this move is a safety precaution.

Toronto Ontario Line 3 | Metrolinx

As Pape is an existing station, it probably would have cost more than the hundreds of thousands to rename the as yet unbuilt stations on the line.

Chinatown actually moved west to it's current location. OG Chinatown is actually closer to St. Patrick & Osgoode stations: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Chinatown%2C_Toronto

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

Just wanted to confirm, is the archeological dig entirely confined to the area around the south of the new pedestrian bridge?

Toronto Ontario Line 3 | Metrolinx

The tracks predate the DVP, so when the structures over the parkway were built the only thing that might have needed closing would be the Don Roadway. To do the same now likely requires multiple DVP lane closures over a few months to put in all of the piers for a bridge. There's no reason it...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

That's a great idea! Unfortunately Metrolinx will then have to add bilingual announcements about it before every stop and this thread will grow by another five pages :(

    Toronto The Dupont | 36.55m | 9s | Tridel | Turner Fleischer

It probably isn't a new access, cars could enter the gas station and Sobeys parking from Dupont.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

It looks single-bladed from this 2020 streetview which is after the last rebuild in 2016.

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

If they did it, the toll gates would only need to be in the vicinity of the intersection of Huron Church Rd, College Av and Patricia Rd. They would set them up to either catch trucks bound for the Ambassador Bridge, exiting from the bridge or both. No reason to toll any other part of the road.

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

I don't expect an issue since the 407 imposes different rates for different vehicle classes, and as we learned last year in the carbon tax debate, a price of $0/ton is a legal amount that the government was able to charge.

Metro Toronto Convention Centre Revitalization | Province of Ontario

I'd rather we go full Zuiderzee and build polders https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuiderzee_Works

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

In the world where this happens, they can keep taking the bridge. The proposal is for a truck toll, presumably it would cover the types of trucks that are prohibited from the tunnel. Windsor residents working in Detroit and commuting by bridge would not have a direct financial impact.

I can't believe we've overlooked this week's winner for so very very long. We simply could not function without his tireless efforts. So, a round of applause for...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

    Yep, here's the 2010 report: https://web.archive.org/web/20230525135417/https://ttc-cdn.azureedge.net/-/media/Project/TTC/DevProto/Documents/Home/Public-Meetings/Board/2010/July-14/Reports/Optimal_Turnarounds.pdf

You'll want to suggest that prior to the rebuild Bay & Dundas. IIRC Retrac intersection design life is 30 years, they order special work at least a year out and the last rebuild was in 2007.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Sorry for one last off topic but I can't tell if @nfitz's comment is tounge-in-cheek. There in fact is a big clear sign next to the beg buttons when you don't need to press them. I don't remember the exact text but IIRC it tells you that the button just gives an audible warning. I never read...

If only there was a way for the doors to close but then be opened later, either with operator intervention or that of riders. /s
