As a frequent user of Sherbourne subway station, I haven’t heard of any plans for a new entrance or seen any work to create one. What the station needs is an entrance on the west side of Sherbourne, but that won’t happen until one of the buildings on that side is redeveloped.

365 Church is one of the ugliest new buildings in the downtown core.

We'll see. I wouldn't mind if they value-engineer the slant to be honest. It just looks gimmicky and unnecessary: the tower's western elevation is straight, so the slant has no continuity, and that side of the podium faces the building next door anyway (Arts & Letters, which has a straight...

The lame attempt to be different with the balcony arrangement - it just looks messy and tacky. Either make the tower look clean with inset /Juliette balconies or, if they must have projecting balconies, at least make them symmetrical. This looks like what AI would spit out when you tell them...

    Spectacularly awful!

The rendering shows a slanted wall for the west side of the podium (facing the Arts & Letters Club) above the heritage facade. No sign of that in the built form.

Zanzibar still exists, right? Maybe as a tribute to Remington's (torn down for this project), although a long pole would take on a different meaning then ;)

Glen Road Pedestrian Bridge (Morley Callaghan Bridge)

Yes, now I remember. On the way to work, not school. Agreed that no extra lighting could’ve prevented that, but I suppose it would give a sense of security to people using that entrance.

That entrance was where a foreign student on his way to school was fatally stabbed (or was it shot) by a stranger some 2 1/2 years ago (completely random). No doubt that incident prompted the safety enhancement.

As long as they keep buying, why not increase the developers’ profit with cheap materials? And no, the type of buyers here would not have to live on the streets if they refuse to buy units in grey-spandreled buildings. They’re probably downsizing from their Rosedale, Forest Hill or Bridlepath...

Ugh! Even a high-end boutique condo can't escape the grey spandrel curse!

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

Ridiculous prices! I know the Thai stall there offers a 20% discount after 2 pm (not 100% sure about the hour, but 2 pm sounds right) if you show your Presto card. Maybe other stalls too. The food hall is like a ghost town after the office lunch crowd leaves.

    Toronto TOOR Hotel / The 203 Residences on Jarvis | 108.2m | 32s | Manga | Arcadis

About 10 years ago when I was looking to buy a condo, I checked out a unit in a building on King, just east of Spadina. I think it’s next to the Bulk Barn. The 1 BR had 1 bathroom, not ensuite (understandable for a 1 BR, as you don’t want your guest to go through your bedroom to use the...

Actually a lot of big American cities have really nice public realm downtown and in select areas. Trees, beautiful parks, interesting public art, sidewalks that are not just poured concrete. Of course, their less desirable areas are REALLY bad - they make Dundas & Sherbourne look good. I'm not...

    Toronto Concord Canada House | 231.97m | 74s | Concord Adex | Arcadis

Classic chicken-and-egg problem: while I’m tempted to say we should make developers be accountable for their design by refusing to live in an ‘ugly’/bland building, if we do that, there’ll be a LOT more homeless people in our city.

Quality-wise probably the best in CityPlace (one hopes anyway, given the hype in their marketing). Architecturally, debatable if it's CityPlace's finest. In any case, both are not saying much.

Yes, but if you tell them that they will dismiss your concern by saying China uses slave labour. Yup, because in places that DON’T use slave labour it’s perfectly normal to complete a 5 storey building in 15 years!

Oh well, there goes the incentive. I’m sure TD wouldn’t be bothered with a little thing like blown out lights when they have bigger worries like the money laundering scandal of their American operations.

    Toronto The One | 308.6m | 85s | Tridel | Foster + Partners

Too much to hope. The nearest equivalent to One North will be the tallest tower in the Canada Square redevelopment project at Yonge & Eglinton.
