    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Uh, isn't the TTC complaining that the subway extension would bring too MANY riders from York Region? And wouldn't a transfer agreement bring more riderships onto the TTC system? TTC has no incentive because TTC does NOT need more riders. I think this thread speaks volume why people should all...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Because it discourages the general public from taking public transits, both to and from Toronto even though it probably would cost the system less to move people from RHC to North York than from Finch to Union. And for no apparent reason other than pettiness between politicians. It's funny...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think it's pretty dangerous to play the 416 vs 905 card. It's an integrated metropolitan. 905 handles most of the air/road traffic into and out of Toronto, you don't see Mississauga charging a fee for each apple going into Toronto, do you? The province spends ton of everybody's income taxes...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

To save the environment? If this is strictly about money, then might as well rip out all public transit since most of them are losing money. Right now, the result is those who live in the 905 would simply drive. It doesn't really impact York Region since people in York Region would likely to own...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I think the first thing needed to be figured out is why downtown is so desirable. I can't think of any reason why the Blue Jays and Leafs can't play in Scarborough instead (they are going to lose anyway. :) ).

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I have no problem with their prices. The Viva is much quicker and far more comfortable than TTC buses. However, paying TTC again is painful. I think YRT has an agreement with GO to transfer between services, so why not TTC?

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Would riders be charged double for taking the extension? IMHO, it would be a big step forward if they could just let Viva riders take the subway for free (using presto to split revenue) and maybe extend the bus lane to RHC. Viva is plenty fast for north of Yonge already and it's almost never...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

The OHIP doesn't know about it. As far as the OHIP is concerned, the doctor did all the diagnostics and prescriptions. To be honest, I trust these "para-doctors" more than the doctor. I just think that the taxpayers should reap the benefits rather than the doctor. Actually, I was wrong. It...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

The college of physicians did by making it extremely difficult for foreign trained doctors to be licensed here. I know that we pay a lot more than countries like Pakistan, yet a patient from there commented that she never had to wait this long for health care there. If you think our...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

Look at our scenarios: Mine (according to you): "exploitation of a group of immigrants" for a limit amount of time "so tax-payers can save a few bucks". Yours: Force these people to work illegally for less money and don't save tax-payers a few bucks. Sigh, I made my point. I really...

Suburban house split up into 18 bedrooms

According to Ontario works, $335 is the maximum allowance for single person shelter. For that amount, you should be able to get a large basement room, but there would be little or no natural light. You can also get a smaller room in an apartment building or the upper floor of a house, parking...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

You seems to think the US government is not a union friendly government. Guess why the big three auto companies are struggling to compete. Yes, we do have residency doctors, but there are too few of them. That's my whole point. We have too few doctors and there are a large pool of qualified...

Yes, they are practicing medicine. And trust me, these people were head surgeons, front line emergency room doctors, directors of large hospitals back home. And they are the lucky ones. More of them are working as hard labours, computer technicians, accountants, cornor store owners, you name it...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

I think I have showed you that there are doctors who would come to Canada and work for $12/hr. I even know doctors who worked as hard labours for many years, what a waste! Sure, they have no choice since they don't have a license, but they still made the choice to come to Canada. I have no...

    Hike taxes more, Board urges

I fail to see your logic. You are saying that no matter how many more doctors we import, the imbalance between the demand and supply would not easy? And their salaries would not go down?

Don't they already pay income taxes on these profits? They are also generating employments for the city. Shouldn't the city pay them instead out of gratitude?

Suburban house split up into 18 bedrooms

Not likely. People will choose the cheaper underground ones over the more expensive legal ones, unless we really want to use the police to wage a war against these rooming houses and their tenants.

Suburban house split up into 18 bedrooms

I appreciate your honesty. In the end, behind all the smoke and mirrors, the only reason some people oppose rooming house is to keep their real estate values up. To be honest, in this particular case, these tenants are probably hard working new immigrants rather than "prostitutes, drug addicts...

Suburban house split up into 18 bedrooms

It was a great idea used by the communists. Although I think they used prisons more than licensing. :D

I disagree. Canada has a lot to offer aside from financial incentives. Environment, land, freedom, etc... Also, $30,000 is just an example. I don't think we even need to set a rate. Competitions between local doctors and foreign doctors will lower the costs by itself. I think foreign doctors...
