    Their first saying that removing the bike lanes won't effect safety - and now protect themselves so they don't get sued, is the kind of stuff that doesn't sell well with the electorate - if they bike or not. This may get fun.

    I guess the USA was lucky that the glaciers carved out those canals for them. If only we had a waterway that stretched from Chicago one way, to the Atlantic Ocean near Halifax the other way, connecting to most of the major cities in Central Canada.

    And yet we do. On roads with bike lanes, car lanes, and an intermittent parking lane, a patio currently is on a few parking spots. We don't need to preserve parking spots that desperately.

    That said, the road widths in LA in the older areas are massive; and the lanes seem much wider too. And so many lanes. Bike lane installation easily, would be an unintended benefit.

    That surprises me - but I don't often travel through there. I'm not sure I believe that one. I frequently drove through there on my recent commute. Nothing noteworthy about that one. I've seen far worse - even on days I drove through that one!

    The connections are certainly not as clear with budget issues. I'm not sure how closing YTZ (and Toronto's only air ambulance base!) saves lives. Budget items don't need engineer sign-off. Engineers are required to always put human life first - ahead of client and other public interests...

    On a nice day. If there's no covered walkway, I'll certainly be staying on the (somewhat) covered platform. Though if there's strong cold wind, the shelter of the outdoor walkway becomes an advantage.

    Hopefully any professional engineer who signs off on the construction plans to remove and downgrade bike lanes, which leads to increased deaths, is disciplined and loses their licence to practice engineering.
