    London Rapid Transit (In-Design)

Ah yeah love hearing that story. Ad hoc but true transit-building. Probably hard to quantify, but having attractive bright trains must've helped to some degree. People see that either in person or in the media (say in a nice setting like crossing Rideau) and they'll want to leave their car at...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

They're pretty receptive to the demands of a dozen homeowners, but only in specific, dare I say strategic, areas And honestly a bit surprised by some of the posters here. Seems a bit bipolar. Not even a few weeks ago people were claiming going 50m down was a nothingburger because the prov would...

    The Weather

Wasn't aware you were only here 15yrs. 1998 was colossal. Though I guess you came from Montreal so would've been used to that.

That's crazy. Would not have believed on Sun night that both the Gardiner and DVP would be closed today. Quite the wallop we got. So powdery.

Looks like people are arguing that 50m deep subaqueous stations can be built for free. If the logic applies to the much-less-complex Cummer then it should cost negative money to build (free plus we make money). Seems like it's guaranteed to be built.

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

If we remove the stagecoach driver, would a horse-drawn carriage qualify as a driverless/autonomous vehicle? 🤔 Horses are pretty smart and can learn a route, may give the current tech a run for its money.

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Unfortunate. But silver lining is that these smaller companies did the dirty work and gleaned valuable information in the process. When the concept returns in x years it will likely be bigger and better.

Prov so weird. 'We shan't tunnel under rivers or have ultra-deep stations...but also we should'.

    Toronto 839 Yonge | 160.2m | 49s | CT REIT | Adamson

Hopefully by then no more need for motor oil. Certainly is a neat site with a lot of frontage of open-air tracks. TTC could get in on the deal with half an acre decked over.

Aw, this is like the only place downtown to buy auto stuff. Can't even get oil at the Bay/Dundas location.

Great Platform Height Debate: Subway-Style Level Boarding for GO Trains

Sometimes I think RER or whatever it's called now will be more like a series of different companies using different trains with different pricing structures. Maybe some might be high-platform level boarding, maybe some won't.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Sorry I think we're on diff wavelengths. I meant detaching Line 1 from itself to create two lines. I'm not a fan of the streetcar loop plans so anything other than that is always on my mind.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Would certainly be neat if Yonge were detached and deadended at Queens Quay. Current U/S would continue using Union, but Yonge would have an inline new Union built around the rail corridor as a connected Union interchange, and a new station terminal at Queens Quay to connect with the LRT. Non...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Yeppers, that's a dang fine map. And their keeping the black background is imo the coup de grace for making a solid future Toronto transit map (not many cities do that and it looks so good).

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Sometimes I imagine a Prov and Fed system with no parties. It would effectively be like City Council. Not saying there weren't problems, but there's certainly less politicking and useless tiresome games when everyone's an independent.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I'm sure that section could be mined, so still cut cover at either end. And yeah switching up a Sheppard extension to instead be an extension of the OL trunk (or branch) seems pretty good. At the very least consider converting Sheppard to the OL rolling stock and extend it as standalone line...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

On the topic of bus/LRV speed. Just going on a casual observation over the last few months (and could very well be wrong), but the Flexity Outlooks appear to have gained some hefty acceleration. These beasts are booking it when before they seemed a tad sluggish to start. I'm genuinely wondering...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Bedrock surface is very shallow near the lake. It dips substantially around Humber Bay though.
