    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Good to see Geddy wearing his mask at the opener- albeit a chin diaper at times. Never liked basketball much.

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

It's the same turf installed in Arizona for the Diamondbacks and later the new dome in Arlington for the Rangers- both venues that similarly have problems maintaining natural grass. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the lower bowl- I imagine this will keep the Jays at the dome...

Centre Wellington Elora Mill South | 20m | 5s | Pearle Hospitality | Hicks Design Studio

Definitely not all locals like it- just saying :) In decades gone by more of a retirement community than tourist haven I would say. But true the the gorge is a great natural attraction and the town has for the longest time had an active arts community- both attracted visitors. It was always...

Centre Wellington Elora Mill South | 20m | 5s | Pearle Hospitality | Hicks Design Studio

I spend a lot of time there and my sense is there are mixed feelings. The town has become a popular place for day trippers and is quite touristy, especially in the summer when the Elora festival is in full swing. Some of the more popular businesses for longtime locals have been replaced by...

    Toronto 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

According to Architect Magazine - "160 Front Street is also incorporating unparalleled amenities including a green roof at the podium level and several outdoor ‘inlets’ with tenant access from their work spaces." I assume they are talking about those mouth-like features. I actually like the way...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

I too have been in other newer parks and the dome is hardly 'trash'. Can you give examples of poor maintenance in small areas? Not being facetious- just curious what you mean. The thought of a brand new stadium completely funded by Rogers makes me chuckle.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Looks like it's definitely worth a visit. The iconic Marilyn Monroe towers next to the dome- wouldn't that be grand.

"Most new stadiums look like they were designed by a coked-up Willy Wonka". Classic. Some of the amenities are just ridiculous. I'm leaning more towards getting more time out of the dome. My main contention is the turf, although as stated in earlier posts there are brand new stadiums that use...

    Toronto Drake Hotel Expansion | 18.9m | 5s | Diamond Schmitt

Quite like the façade of the new extension although I'm thinking the it might have worked better with some actual arched windows included- as seen on the original. Still not sold on the shiny shipping container up top. Really curious how it looks inside.

    Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

Here's a cool aerial view of old town dated to 1894- I assume taken from a balloon. Toronto's first house built in brick (1807) can be seen on the corner of King and Frederick- lower right. It was built for Laurent Quet, a Frenchman of minor nobility who fought in the French Revolution. He...

That a great view of St. James park, St. Lawrence and the old market area.

Toronto Massey Hall Revitalization at the Allied Music Centre | 48.46m | 7s | KPMB

Terrific restoration overall but I must be one of the few people that miss the iron fire escapes.

    Toronto The Capitol | 60.35m | 15s | Madison Group | Turner Fleischer

I remember a long walk home from work to my apt in High Park- lots of people were out and about along Bloor. It was very dark looking out from my balcony- pretty strange.

    Toronto Drake Hotel Expansion | 18.9m | 5s | Diamond Schmitt

I like the brick detailing and mismatched windows are fun, but I'm not sure about the rooftop module- but perhaps it looks better in person.

    Public Art in Toronto

This one is surely in the running for the most grotesque of Toronto's public art- 'Universal Man' by Gerald Gladstone.

    Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

Thanks for pointing out the Telegram building. Here's another view looking north with the top of the Globe building in the foreground. I never would have guessed it was a terra cotta tile- assuming of course the tinted image is correct. With the image dated at 1927 it's already looking quite...

    Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

Looking west down Melinda St. in 1910. I really like those water towers. The think the spired building on the right is the Mail and Empire building or formerly I just called the Mail Building- on the current site of First Canadian Place. Apparently demolished in 1939. TPL

    Toronto Waterfront Innovation Centre | 53.03m | 11s | Waterfront Toronto | Sweeny &Co

Low expectations might not be the worst approach for the waterfront at this point. It falls well short of initial proposals but its not altogether bad. I'm sure it would be a respectable addition to Toronto's building stock- if only it wasn't built on what was a grand opportunity on this stretch...
