That seemed fast.
I felt like after Eataly was announced, it was only a short time before closure of Nordstrom was announced. Eataly would've made a good replacement in that space.
^ Nice photos!
You must have been just a few hours shy of them putting new signage on the front of the Medical Sciences Building, above the balcony. Not a fan of it. None of the other buildings around the circle have signage like it. But I guess they feel they have to give the Temerty family...
I wonder if a Peel police station is still being planned here, with the dissolution of Peel Region? I guess whatever Brampton replaces Peel Police with would need a station anyways?
Also, very sad to say: The Apple Factory, which looked to coexist with new development in these plans, will be...
I guess I was implying that it just makes me wonder, why did we invest in Automatic Train Control on Line 1 if the customers aren't even going to see the benefits with higher frequency service? And perhaps we wouldn't be seeing these fare increases now if the money wasn't spent on it.
Oh darn... I hadn't realized this H&M closed. Didn't the Queen/Spadina location close recently too? Was really handy as a student, and even just a visitor to the area, to grab something really quick.
I was thinking of that TTC upgrade the other day. They were promising that with the automation, trains could be run "closer together", lessening the wait times. Yet with recent cuts to service, they are saying wait times will increase, as well as prices.
Makes me also wonder what happened to...
Not mentioned in this thread yet (it's 2022 news), but Simons is coming to Halifax very soon: https://retail-insider.com/retail-insider/2022/05/la-maison-simons-announces-halifax-store-with-landlord-to-repurpose-former-sears-box/
EATALY should nix their current plans at Sherway and just take the Nordstrom space instead :D
Would be great to bring some food retail back to the tent area. I still think the food court move to the north side was a huge blunder. It was so wonderful in the tent space.
I don't see the 410 ever making past the 413... Why do you think the 410's a better option?
Hwy 10 is already multi-lane heading north, with only a handful of traffic lights. The only slowdown up to hwy 9 is really Caledon village with its one traffic light.
Hwy 427 on the other hand... it...
^ What is that structure in the parking lot across from the science building? Looks like a stairwell or elevator shaft. Are they building a bridge to the science building, or is that for a new multi-level parking structure?
No, the lot to the right is green municipal parking. Then the lot next to that is the low rise LCBO, which has its own little parking lot on its north end.
I don't think bollards will ever be installed. That section is open to traffic likely for servicing of the University College building.... deliveries, moving trucks, garbage and recycling need to get through somehow.
