    Transit City Plan

WIth all the infighting, I predict the Eglinton LRT will be built according to TC plan (underground Jane to Laird, at grade Laird to Kennedy) and nothing else. Councillors can't agree on whether Finch should be BRT or LRT or whether Sheppard should be LRT or Subway or whether Sheppard should...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Stintz's plan seems like a good comprimise. However, Eglinton East at-grade needs to have wider stop spacing and be "grade-separated" in the sense that it gets signal priority, use crossing gates, maybe duck under minor intersections in order to be rapid transit (the TC plan had it going at...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

My prediction is that the pro TC crowd will get Eglinton east in buried and in the middle of the street again.... But the cost savings will go to cutting the deficit and not building finch or sheppard.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Maybe they'll be smart and use high floor LRTs or subway trains.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

With a fare by distance system we wouldn't even need a transfer system! Base plus distance. Then charge a premium if it's the subway for the speed and convenience and a higher premium for the go bus or train. Done!

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

If ford manages to extend it to Victoria park, I think Shepard will end up getting finished in the end as its so close to STC and it makes no sense to bridge that distance with LRT

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

elevated rail! like the sky train. someone needs to consider this. i know metrolinx floated it for a while. it costs somewhere on the lower end between an at-grade tram system and a subway - but gives truly rapid transit.

    Monorail for Toronto

Here is the link. I think he used to word monorail just to refer to elevated transit and not a monorail specifically. To quote him "an above ground people mover". Monorail sounds sexier though :p.

    Monorail for Toronto

If you look at Doug Ford's interview with CTV, he meant monorail as any type of elevated transit. Which I think is a great idea for the outer Eglinton stretches and part of the DRL and show that they're at least somewhat open to non-underground rapid transit.

    2008: Behemoth - 200 foot coaster 2012: Leviathan - 300 foot coaster 2016: 400 foot coaster????

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Why would she pard have to be converted to be elevated...? There are many elevated metros in the world. It'd just be a waste of money.

    Transit City Comeback?

Agreed. If the Mississauga BRT can do it, the Eglinton line can do it.

    Transit City Comeback?

Agreed. If the Sheppard and Eglinton LRTs were built at grade but completely separated like the Mississauga Transitway (thus, rapid transit lines), I don't think Transit City would have gotten the criticism like it did.

    Roads: Roundabouts

FOUR consecutive roundabouts on a relatively short and slow road. Geez.

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

They could run half (or whatever number) the trains down the old corridor and half via Square One. Then we wouldn't lose any stations but still gain the Square One spur. Plus, if we elevate the spur line, it'd be cheaper than to extend the subway there and could be an interim solution until...

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

As a cost saving measure, as opposed to a tunnel they could have the line travel in an elevated viaduct through the park strip (Stonebrook/Mississauga Valley) east of Hurontario up to Rathburn and turn west into the transit terminal then run in the hydro corridor back to the main line. I made a...

Downtown-Wide 'Transportation Study' Planned by City

I think there is an argument to be made to charge different fares based on mode. It would encourage people to live near higher order transit and prevent sprawl.

Colour Me Impressed: the New "old" Tile at St. Andrew Station

Another reason why the TTC stations look like crap. If they're not going to follow through with a project at least tear what they put up down to maintain the consistency of the station... It's the same problem St George has with all the different types of signs.

Star: New Signs for the TTC

Why cant they stick with one kind of sign and actually outfit the entire system with it? The new Victoria Part renovations seemed to have used the old style pylon signs anyway.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a tunnel for an LRT needs to be wider than a tunnel for Subway trains anyway.
