I don't really get the aversion to Skytrain / Elevated / Surface "Subways" technologies in Toronto. It would cost much less than a subway, but would still provide the same speeds. Would avoid this whole red light / frequent stop mess TC will face.

I think the mockup is close to what we'll see, it almost looks identical to what's in Metrolinx's promo videos. The raised platform must just be a truckbed the vehicle is on for easy transport. The aisles are really narrow though. (Considering that the LRT tunnel will be wider than subway...

Would be interesting to see how the lines will be prioritized. This is just all the subway proposals, Transit City, and Bus Transit City thrown together with 2 rail lines infill. Also, 2/3 of the money is fantasy as the province and feds are unlikely to give $10 billion right now. But still, $10...

Bloor Danforth Extension to STC The more I think about it the more it makes sense. We are spending more than a billion dollars on SRT conversion that will close it for 5 years and another billion (ball park) on eglinton east. Why would we just not do either and extend the BD subway as passed...

Common ground for McGinty: Use eglinton east and STC money to build Bloor Danforth to STC (scarb gets subway, no need for LRT) and if there is money left, build Sheppard to Downsview. This was AFFIRMED by council and Supported by ford.

TC simply needs to be faster either by elevation or better separation. Metrolinx clearly favors this and it'll be interesting what they will do to do this while still abiding by "above ground" mandate. Council also voted for subways: BD to STC, Sheppard to Dowsnview, DRL. it makes no sense to...

Interested to see how this Bloor Danforth extension to STC will play out tomorrow. If it goes, it pretty much negates any use for Eglinton East. Might as well use those funds on trenching Eglinton West. Also even if Eglinton East is at grade, would there even be enough funds to bring subway to STC?

I can't envision what's coming next... Maybe we can spend the billions on rex'ifying GO and build the midtown line :p at least that can be done without the city's bickering. It could be the defacto blood danforth extension to Mississauga, a crosstown line of sorts, a drl, AND a yonge extension...

Exactly, why aren't we looking at grade separated rapid transit above ground. You get it for cheap, it's fast, rapid transit (can basically pass off as a subway), and it could be used on ALL the proposed lines.

Yes, lets be real here. TC at-grade non separated light rail was supposed to go at 20 km/h. Now, if we implement it properly, it could be 40 km/h and up, but thats not what was proposed.
