    Toronto Casa | 147.52m | 46s | Cresford | a—A

Energy efficiency I think a rule of thumb is that LEED buildings use 35 % less energy to heat. Apart from the obvious environmental advantage, condo owners will save money. Two developers stand out for doing the right thing (even though they could probably produce cheaper buildings which...

    Toronto X2 Condominiums | 160.93m | 49s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

Nice! I especially like the 3D view and how you can move it around.

    Glass buildings and window coverings.

I think some condos state that window coverings or drapes must be white coloured viewed from the outside, written into the purchase agreement. I wonder if they also have balcony anti-clutter rules. :)

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

A film about graffitti in New York City showed how protecting a subway yard with multiple coils of barbed wire (i.e. "triple concertina") effectively kept out vandals accustomed to easy access when vehicles were out of service over night.

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

What bugs me most is that stupid intersection which treats pedestrians so miserably. Where else in the whole city do you have to detour through 4 separate walk lights, just to get across one side (e.g., between the Rogers bldg and the southwest corner of Charles E and Jarvis)?

City orders condo developers to buy annual metropass for every unit

Good idea! Those who would otherwise buy a metro pass get a break. Those who own cars have an incentive to drive less. And the remainder who walk or cycle have the option to take transit more frequently.

Beer Store needs a Lifetime Achievement Award

Reminds me of the one on Church Street, with its underused parking lot in front.

Cant buy much these days with $300k

Rent and save $$$. Half the people in the city do. You don't need a car and can enjoy all the benefits of living downtown. Rent a car when you want.

    MLSE paints illegal sidewalk ads

I agree. Another obnoxious (and ongoing) practice by MLSE is to spray paint the sky with their stupid searchlights, as if it's their own domain. "Look at me! Look at me!" It's about as welcome as the jerk next door who plays loud music disturbing neighbours.

Do you use a bike for transport in the city?

Over 16,000 km this year! Hey, that's more than coast to coast and back again!

    Bikes..are they pedestrians or Vehicles?

I completely agree. It would prevent selfish motorists from parking in bike lanes. More importantly, I believe the would be perceived as a LOT safer and you would see fewer selfish riders on the sidewalks. In short, its a win for cyclists and pedestrians. A physically-separated bidirectional...

...Now if only Toronto Hydro would fix up that soulless substation next door. All over the city, they put up buildings to blend into their surroundings. Here, it's just an bland grey wall, with a littered lawn frequented by dogs relieving themselves and one or two homeless campers. Despite a...
