    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I think it's very premature to say the community is a ghost town. The vast majority of retail along front street isn't even open yet. And there are so many more buildings on the way to be completed over the next 5 years. It's also hard to judge "ghost town" during covid because people have less...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I think it's about being realistic. I don't think it's reasonable to expect that the inevitable density is going to be much less than the MZO. I'd much rather the focus of advocates be on the quality of the pedestrian realm, community assets, and integration of historic buildings on the site...

I know that there's a lot of praise for the curtain wall, but I'm frankly excited to see the undertones (Whether wood finished or with a color). The glass all by itself still feels a little cold overall. Is the goal to see occupancy this summer? I'd love to know when the retail tenants are...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

There is public space, but the Plaza as proposed here is still beautiful. And there is value in maintaining it if the site is designed to become a destination, especially if it's mixed used as a music venue or farmers market. The design of the building over top ensures that the area also is used...

This is absolutely incredible architecture work. Stunning. YIMBY (Literally, since I look over this site). This is what having a vision looks like. Kudos to KPMB for executing on this vision quickly. I would love for a developer like Dream/Kilmer (Who is responsible for many other buildings in...

New article on global with a quote from Doug Ford: https://globalnews.ca/news/7654909/toronto-foundry-site-ontario-government-negotiations-consultations/ You literally can and should disclose details of a deal before it is signed, especially when there is no competitive bidding process for...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Let’s hope that the city doesn’t play ball with the province if they make it clear in negotiations they’re not going to approach things in good faith.

The corruption here is galling to see. It shocking that there is no law that mandates that the sale of provincial property via competitive bidding. That the government can just hand off provincial assets without scrutiny is shocking to me. Its public land. @DSC where are you hearing rumours...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Looks great, but I can’t imagine the province scaling down the project to this extent. Especially considering they were planning 250 affordable units and this plan only has half that number. The only way this flies is if the province sells the land to the city. the reality is that each of the...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

Anyone with an inside scoop have an idea when we might hear more about the East Harbour Site? In the most recent Smarttrack doc (https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2021/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-159999.pdf), the city is noting RFP issuance for Q4 2021. However, they note that "* East Harbour...

Im sorry but this is a horrible read on the situation here, and even a bit negligent of the conversation in this thread. Many of us who are upset about the approach of the province here want more housing to be built including on this site. Two members in the area have created example models of...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

So glad to hear this. Now maybe the province can actually work with us to save these buildings and get some housing (affordable and market) built on this site. Ford and Clark might have some unhappy friends, but this was the right call!

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

It's horrifying that the province is just gaslighting on this with no shame at all. They can’t provide evidence they even did legally required studies. The entire neighborhood just wants to know that the province has plans for. They can’t even show the plan. How can the city hold back a...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I would love to know what the Judges said to the province in the interim attempt to seek an injunction yesterday. Steve Clark and Doug Ford did not have a "good faith" moment after acting with arbitrary impunity from the start. Hopefully that means theres a strong case for halting the demolition...

my understanding is that if they have been found to have breached the law they may be ordered to rebuild/repair the structures.

Let's just... wait to see if we get an injunction before we get ahead of ourselves

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I don’t think anything would give me more glee than Doug Ford /province having to rebuild demolished buildings on site brick by brick.

The province needs to show their homework on this one. If this is true they would have made it public before backlash, not after.

It wont matter. The City Solicitor hasn't decided whether to even go to court to seek and injunction yet. The timeline through council is not for two weeks (If they even vote to). The demolition may not be done, but the damage to the buildings by that point will make them unsafe to keep anyways...
