    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Would've been really convenient for the City Hall bureaucrats! I admit that it is kind of romantic to have a "City Hall Station", but it makes no sense and it would've just bypassed two important subway stations! Honestly, what were they thinking? 😂 Yes, but not everyone wants to walk such a...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

Absolutely agree with this. In terms of planning, I would say that the city has a better understanding of local issues and the province isn't as affected by NIMBYs. The two priorities are not mutually exclusive, meaning that the city's plans & planning processes need a rethink and the province...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

That's why I would like a government that cares about cities, strengthens their power, and only overrules them on a reasonable set of criteria. Also, the OLT is a major failure for delaying projects, overly favouring developers, discouraging collaboration, delaying the approval of plans so much...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

That's a really unfortunate thing. Everyone should comply to planning rules. Otherwise, what's the point?

Sure, here you go. It's already been put into the Planning Act and gives the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing the authority to remove SPA powers for an MZO. Also, MZOs are no longer required to be consistent with even the Provincial Policy Statement. Government website...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Again, we need federal legislation to stop this from happening. CN shouldn't be able to prevent electrification. It doesn't even make sense, because it won't prevent diesel trains from running.

    Hamilton Pier 8 Redevelopment | 147m | 45s | Cityzen | Omar Gandhi

I don't think the tower is appropriate here. I'd much rather have this work of art built, as originally designed by gh3. Other than that, this project is amazing!

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

This is kind of confusing because the city and province have signed agreements on how planning will remain the city's responsibilities for TOD and with some broad design requirements. And yet, the approvals process isn't really in the city's hands anymore. At the same time, the government is...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

That's a relief. In terms of CN and CP, we should have federal legislation that removes their ability to oppose electrification and passenger rail... although it's a tricky situation because freight rail moves about 70% of Canada's products.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

We might not be getting any new trains as part of GO Expansion. They might have decided to just refurbish the old ones... Or am I wrong? https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/1001250/building-ontario-with-investments-in-go-transit-bi-level-rail-coaches Building Ontario with Investments in GO...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Elevated transit can contribute to urban blight if it isn't done well. I think that was his argument. For example, it could divide communities, create places that foster crime, be ugly, or make communities unliveable due to its environmental impacts. The question is how to build transit that...

Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

I agree, and buildings have a role to play in this... as well as landscaping to create a "pedestrian room" on exceptionally wide streets.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Or write to one of the TTC commissioners (some of which are city councillors). Seems like an easier option.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I like that these projects are happening, but the landscaping and materials could be much better. At the same time, the roadway is still car-oriented. For example, there is a dedicated highway-style right turn on the Park Lawn intersection and there are pedestrian islands. This doesn't create a...

Toronto Maple House at Canary Landing | 89.61m | 26s | Dream | COBE Architects

That's good, at least they understand that the podium has to be detailed.

Won't we have Distillery bricks (old style red bricks) for the podium?

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

From the OPA that the city passed in 2014... I hope to see the results of this policy, as the current design (imo) is trash. On November 24, the city's planners and the design team met to discuss the architecture and landscaping of this project. I'll try to find out what agreement they came to...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I don't think anyone would cancel the Ontario Line outright. Maybe some minor changes, but I don't think cancelling transit projects is politically popular anymore. Personally, I'd love to have the NDP in government because they promise to reform Metrolinx and make it a truly independent agency.

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

Metrolinx has said themselves that the green roof is cancelled, on the Metrolinx Engage website. Very sad to me... I was really looking forward to it.
