    Toronto 69 Yonge | 89.45m | 21s | H&R REIT | PARTISANS

I get it, Alex has corny starchitect tendencies but I would say having at least one egotistical design firm find success is on net a positive for the urban fabric of the city

    Toronto 69 Yonge | 89.45m | 21s | H&R REIT | PARTISANS

Hope this gets built. Partisans is a visionary firm that easily could have closed shop and found more business in NYC or LA where bold designs are more likely to be built, but they seem committed to Toronto and making the cityscape a little less dull. Would be nice for them to finally have a...

    Toronto The Hangar District | 51.2m | 14s | Northcrest Developments | Perkins Eastman

Lets hope we get a few more Hines-3XN buildings here.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Fortunately, west parkdale is not Ward 2 (Toronto's version of hell) so while I expect opposition it will probably be more subdued with actual grounded talking points

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Some of the comments going around in that meeting make me genuinely concerned for the safety of cyclists in this city. People making comments about running over cyclists or having a desire to run cyclists off the road. And Holyday just ignores them or eggs them on. What a joke. Cars are...

    Toronto Lawrence Parktown Residences | 42.16m | 11s | Lawrence Parktown Residences | Bortolotto

Am I correct in thinking that this building would be allowed as-of-right if the MTSA policy ever comes to fruition?

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Light metro seems to be the future for any new "metro" lines in North America. I can't think of a brand new heavy rail subway line being planned anywhere in NA.

    Toronto Surface Transit Network Plan

I’m curious if this is Pie-IX style brt with full traffic separation

    Toronto Surface Transit Network Plan

Perhaps LA county would be a more apt comparison which the GTA is also expected to exceed by 2041. But my point was that if these projects are what city hall sees as long-term aspirations, rather than projects to be funded within the next 5-10 years, we are in for a very painful transit crunch.

    Toronto Surface Transit Network Plan

Good to see these expansions entering the discussion but I am worried that staff are projecting too little transit. I don’t think a single person at city hall or even queens park has fully processed that the GTA is projected to have more people than NYC does today by 2041. I don’t think anyone...

    Mississauga Bombardier Aerospace Campus | ?m | 1s | Bombardier | NEUF

The company that bought the rights to the Q400 is building an entirely new airport east of Calgary just to manufacture them. At least the Q400 jobs are staying in Canada and it will be good to have some competition between Bombardier and DeHaviland (Longview)

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

C train does stop at red lights in the downtown core, it’s a major flaw in their system. If I recall it was planned to eventually become a tunneled section when the lrt was originally conceived. But as with most pre-metro systems, the upgrade to full grade separation never really happens.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Always looks odd to have a tram running through big box power centres and auto malls like that, but I am reminded that the entire area will be completely unrecognizable from today in 10-20 years.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Let’s wait and see the how good the public realm execution will be here. Even if subpar, there are a massive number of improvements coming to the immediate surroundings including a new park right next door.

    Toronto U of T: Landscape of Landmark Quality | ?m | 1s | U of T | MVVA

University park is one of those projects that will push the city closer to the "world class" status it labels itself. The assembly grounds are in dire need of revitalization so I would think the province is interested as well. Hopefully get rid of that surface parking too!

    Toronto Park Lawn GO Station | 12.83m | 2s | First Capital | Hatch

These stations being close wouldn’t be an issue if GO operated EMUs.

    Toronto QRC West Phase 2 (Queen Richmond Centre West) | 35.96m | 7s | Allied | Sweeny &Co

That northeast corner skylight detail is unsightly. Looks like a leftover from mid 90s PoMo 🤢

    Toronto Macdonald Block Reconstruction | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON | WZMH

I am so happy with the choice to renovate this complex with respect to the original design. Its great to see a modernist building revitalized without turning the facade into a spandrel-fest.
