Pret A Manger coming to Canada!

As someone who got lunch out of that A&W/Pret often-ish, I liked having the Pret options in that A&W. It was nicer than just getting yet another chicken burger. But they're delusional if they think I'm gonna walk 10-15 minutes each way to the store on Adelaide.

    Toronto 530 Yonge Street | 224.8m | 68s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

I think you could apply the term "concept" here as something closer to the way it's used for cars. A concept car can be anything between a never-gonna-be-built design study, or something that's essentially a production model with some fancy trim. Depends who's concept car it is, some...

Time for another hideous monstrosity on the waterfront! Yay!

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Doug can literally abolish the entire City government if he wants to. The amount of concessions Olivia has gotten out of him since taking over is impressive IMO, given she has no leverage to use, but he could put Toronto under direct provincial control tomorrow if the legislature passed such a...

Happy 13th Anniversary of the groundbreaking ceremony for this cursed project!

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Noticed in the slides that the 30% design for the Union loop shows the streetcar tracks for the Bremner line. I thought that had been killed, but I guess they're still provisioning for it happening in like year 3000 or something. I also don't remember there being anything about a northwest...

    Toronto 506 Church | 159.25m | 48s | Graywood | Diamond Schmitt

So I'd argue there is a difference between a tower being 3 minutes from the street and right on the street. I personally love the vibe of Church Street as a set of low rise stores with towers just outside that. I love the contrast. It feels like something special in downtown Toronto. And yes if...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

They should have sold the lights to IKEA when they bought up most of the retail. Let them make the lights blue and yellow in exchange for them actually working for once.

    Toronto Regent Park: Phases 4 and 5 | 134.1m | 39s | Tridel | Karakusevic Carson Architects

So looking at this compared to the site plan, I think they might kinda gotten the render backwards. Assuming this is the view along Gerrard, the tall part should be on the left when looking south...

    Toronto Regent Park: Phases 4 and 5 | 134.1m | 39s | Tridel | Karakusevic Carson Architects

Looking at the Ground Floor Plan in the front page story, we're getting 7(!) narrow-but-deep retail units along Gerrard which is amazing. I think earlier plans had something like 4 shallow-but-wide units, so this is a huge improvement in terms of making Gerrard feel like a local main street.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

For an average adult user, probably not really. Unless you like managing your transit spending via a presto card, which some people do. Mainly though, Presto is still useful for anyone on a discount fare rate. So for my parents, they get a seniors rate on Presto, but wouldn't if they pay by...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It will be installed whenever Astral deems to install it. Truly one of the dumbest thing things this city has ever done is give up all control of street furniture to Bell Media (who own Astral). Hopefully their terrible performance on this contract means we go back to things being in-house so...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Yeah you can see it in the renders, it's going to be extremely different from the other concourses in terms of the number of connections of stairs and ramps between the various levels it's connecting to within and outside of the station. It's really just an upgrade of the hallways used to reach...

    Toronto Queen Central | 106.23m | 34s | Parallax | Arcadis

Here's the thread for that site. As @Towered said, nothing seems to be moving there, but they do have an approved height of 40 storeys whenever something does. https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/toronto-133-queen-east-130-1m-40s-ibi-group.28924/

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

IIRC Council has petitioned Metrolinx to start planning for an extension to Steeles. Now, Metrolinx being Metrolinx, this means they will now probably do anything but that to spite Council, but who knows.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I don't think it confuses people familiar with the system because we already know where those stations are. I don't think it's as intuitive for tourists or newcomers to know that Eglinton Station on the Eglinton Line is at Yonge St, and as you mentioned, is also not the same thing as Eglinton GO...

Additionally, the WiFi is onboard the trains, not just in the stations like the legacy TTC system.

    Toronto Ontario Line: Exhibition Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

The good news is that it's not exactly difficult to improve the tunnel in the future. Yeah this is disappointing, but it's fixable.
