Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Indeed. The Deluces (both Robert and his son Michael) have strong social network with Conservative Party members, but if they're not providing funding to Ports Toronto then the entire thing comes down to Toronto Council. The renewal terms of the tripartite agreement will dominate Ports Toronto...

    Cruise Ship Terminal

Viking Polaris/Octanis and Ponant's Le Champlain (205m x 24m and ~130m x 18m) all make regular ocean crossings. Le Champlain even has a 1C ice-breaker spec and bounces around Iceland periodically. When they're not in the Great Lakes they're generally running Caribbean/Central America, or the...

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

I presume engineering spec'd them to withstand a derailed LRV or snowplow collision.

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Any river water used by boat (very loose definition: anything that floats and has propulsion) over any portion of its length is a navigable water. The irony here is the "boat' most used on the Don River is the dredge barge that removes the silt.

Bowmanville extension expropriation is getting closer to completion. Tim Hortons closing. https://www.durhamregion.com/news/times-up-for-oshawa-tim-hortons-that-will-close-sept-15-after-drive-through-closed/article_bb8c4217-2371-54f3-a0ff-3a16151b2a2f.html

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I presumed he intended to talk about about the Lakeshore BRT stations at that development which is funded and has a completed EA; it's primary job is to connect numerous Lakeshore developments to the Long Branch GO station and Hurontario LRT as an extension of the previously completed "Lakeshore...

    Toronto Aqualuna at Bayside | 61.87m | 18s | Tridel | 3XN

MPAC tracks several hundred per-property features; the basics like lot size, indoor floorspace, garage space, and riparian rights through to details like the quality of the finishes (basic, premium, luxury), whether it has a deck, hot tub, quality of the view, etc. Initially, a lot of this data...

    Statistics

Those are by far the busiest border crossings, both with multiple points of entry/exit to handle a large number of daily commuters. There are at least 10 different bus services you can catch at San Ysidro station (San Diego trolley stop at the border) to take you to downtown Tijuana. There are...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

That's an excellent question. Electric motors with high torque at low speed tend not to be efficient for continuous operation at high speeds. It's the reason many EVs have 2 different types of motors; one for getting up to speed (or rapidly decelerate), which is rarely used, and the other to...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Agreed. A random Mississauga MPP doesn't announce a moderately substantial transit spending item for the first time when Ford is standing right there and you don't accidentally forget to invite the Minister of Transportation when announcing a large new transit spending item too. Also, Metrolinx...

    Toronto Aqualuna at Bayside | 61.87m | 18s | Tridel | 3XN

Property tax is based on the market value of the unit (as %age of all real-estate in the city) If someone is willing to pay more for a large exclusive use terrace, then the property taxes will be higher.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

It's possible this design won't get built, but even if Great Gulf goes bankrupt some developer will eventually build something in this location. Housing demand in central Toronto is still extremely high. The inability to find buyers willing and able to pay a premium for this design and scale...

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Unknown, and I doubt if Great Gulf knows either. They'll probably try to market it as the first tower is completed so they can use that excitement to sell higher-priced units in the taller tower. They're going to be looking for hundreds of people willing to pay ~$2500/sqft. The high-end market...

    Toronto 11 Brock Avenue | 19.19m | 4s | City of Toronto | SvN

Agreed. Cheap wood-frame construction can be up to 6 floors. Adding a 7th floor adds significantly to the cost. AFAIK adding the 5th/6th floor gets into some fire-rating strengthening and dynamic analysis requirements but it's not a costly.
