    Toronto Theatre District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel | 156.05m | 49s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Imagine this podium but with a non-hideous brick tone and towers above that were designed with care.

Kitchener Kitchener City Hall: Carl Zehr Square Renovation | ?m | ?s | City of Kitchener | RSA Architects

I’ve always liked the design of city hall and the way it frames a very unapologetically urbane public square. It’s also one building that I recall taking note of even as a child - something about it felt weighty and meaningful and that it had civic aspirations. (As much as a kid can perceive...

    Toronto Quay House | 73.15m | 21s | Empire | Kirkor

The ground floor is weirdly low here.

Agreed, but in a lot of smaller venues, it's actually more space-conscious for us to just put a ton of individual small WC's with a shared sink area (or tiny sinks within the individual WC's.) Your point is taken but I don't think anyone is asking for or realistically expecting the building code...

    Hamilton McMaster Graduate Student Residence | 97.9m | 30s | Knightstone | Diamond Schmitt

Really opening up the ground floor would have helped to make the visual heaviness of this design more palatable to me but then they did that single-storey black brick portion that reads like a suburban strip plaza wedged into the building and separating it from the sidewalk. I think the design...

    Toronto Social at Church + Dundas | 164.89m | 52s | Pemberton | RAW Design

Holy shit that's bad. This might set a new (low) bar...

    Toronto 1 Sumach | 120m | 35s | Block | gh3

Damnit. This was a really interesting proposal. Sad to lose it, as a local.

    Toronto 8 Wellesley | Residences at Yonge | 182.15m | 55s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

Looks ridiculous and anemic at the base of the comparatively massive tower plate.

    Mississauga The Southlands | ?m | 72s | Camrost-Felcorp | a—A

If anyone on UT in 2023 is taking renderings literally, they haven’t been paying attention. ;)

Correct. That's not a unit, it's an amenity space, the double height is welcome & warranted.

Where did you get this image from? Source/context?

    Great updates! I'm a fan.

Canada Life Building 344 University Avenue (?, ?s, GWL)

It’s so bad. All I can see when I look at it is the Chick-fil-A logo.

    Toronto TOOR Hotel / The 203 Residences on Jarvis | 108.2m | 32s | Manga | Arcadis

I think the orange glass on the balcony ends was a misfire but otherwise there's a lot I like about this one.

    Toronto Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman Architects

Not generally a fan of NIMBYism but the residents of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood were right to oppose this project. It proves all their concerns and fears to be true, as far as I’m concerned.

    Toronto 199 Church | 124.5m | 39s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

That streetwall/"podium" elevation they did is rough.

    Toronto Nobu Residences Toronto | 156.66m | 45s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

“But the mullions are gold, bro!” This thing is a Toronto developer’s wet dream. And that is not a compliment.
