    Rob Ford's Toronto

Absolutely. You either root for the Leafs or you hang back, but you would never root for the Sabres.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

It seems like the longer they sit on something this potentially explosive, it's more possible for cracks to appear in the dam and the possibility of Ford getting off some technicality seems more and more likely. Pugwash sounds defensive. Is it possible that leaks like this, to the Star and...

There should be some kind of pre-determined gathering place to go when he IS arrested. It will be party. Nathan Phillips? Someone bring DJ gear.

via @reporterdonpeat Photo: Rob Ford in executive committee, avoiding media and instead "whispering" to Joe Warmington on his cell. From Warmington's article: "'I am in executive committee so I don't even know what's out there,' he said over the phone in a whisper."

I think it's a good idea to talk Mayor race in the other thread and have this just be about Ford.

Hope? : Chris Lewis, OPP commish, is due to retire on March 29.

This is what I'm really starting to feel. The bump up to the OPP feels like "we can't make anything of what we have, can you?" I don't know anything about the police and how they investigate cases, but the public stuff recently has felt like heating the wires to try and stir up something...

And the Gravy Train narrative hasn't really gone away. He hired KPMG to find waste, and they found next to none. That should still be a huge story, that there is no "gravy," but that narrative is continually reinforced even though it isn't true. Same with "the private sector will pay for it."...

What are the other ITOs yet to come? March 5, right? I know there's still info redacted from the Lisi ITO. Is it that, or are there others?

Keep in mind that if Ford does get arrested, he will still run. He'll pay bail and be back in front of the cameras. Presumably saying he "can't talk about a matter before the courts." He will run until he legally can't (I think that's at the point of conviction). Just imagine the circus.

I wouldn't say "knows." I would say "assumes." It's pretty obvious that the noose is tightening, and it's also a very easy political point to be pro-chief and pro- cops doing their job. It seems like a very easy way for Tory to distinguish and distance himself without risking much (if any) support.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I worry that the increase in public statements from the police mean they're hoping it will cause the Fords to slip because they don't have anything.

Using a world like "plot" seems hyperbolic, though not technically incorrect. Further lending credence to the perspective that the Star is out to get Doug Ford. I'm sure that's how he'll spin this.
