Heh, this wide-angle shot reminds me of developer's renderings for their proposed projects, complete with that tricky perspective that makes the building look taller and/or thinner than it really is.

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

... as well as the one on Bloor at the terminus of Park Road. And much to my chagrin, they're phasing out the Soho salad.

Nice. That's the view I see on my way to work every morning.

    Grange Park

It's interesting ... I've noticed that once you pass Cecil St. and the Russian Orthodox church while walking north on Henry St., the general upkeep of the houses and front lawns improves dramatically.

That fountain is enormous. The materials and execution will determine whether it adds a touch of class or a touch of ass to this neighbourhood.

    Insufficient Sidewalks Downtown

I'm not sure if the volume of pedestrian traffic (or lack thereof) warrants it, but I feel certain sections of Avenue Rd. north of Bloor could stand to have their sidewalks widened. Especially seeing how cars tend to zoom by on that road at breakneck speeds, I often feel uncomfortable walking...

The Star: TTC wait times on texts, screens

Agreed. From far away (i.e. halfway down the corridor leading up to the platform), the LEDs are so bright that it's difficult to make out the words because the aura from each diode bleeds into the adjacent one. Then again, maybe it's time to get my eye prescription rechecked.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

That steak and baked potato don't look very appetizing at all, but for 4 bones, my what a steal!

    Unbuilt Toronto projects on Sketchup

My God ... Eaton's College St. would have been a veritable beast.

    "Toronto got itself a subway...really!"

After watching 4'28" - 4'35", you'll see that 50 years after the fact, some things truly don't change.

    Toronto MaRS Centre Phase 2 | 112.77m | 20s | Alexandria | B+H

I'd have no qualms if my supervisor picked our lab up and moved it from its current, cockroach-infested home on campus to a spanking new MaRS complex. Then again, we already have a recently-completed adjoining building boasting state-of-the-art research infrastructure that sits largely unused.

    35 Walmer (rental, 8s, Roberts & Caunter)

That whole stretch of Spadina north of Bloor is essentially fronted by detached/semi-detached homes and apartment buildings, so I wouldn't call this a wasted opportunity. If anything, I think this type of infill is an excellent model we should be following to fill-in the wasted expanse...
