Does anyone know what is being built on the N/W corner and what is to come on the S/W corner next to Emerald Park?

All the stores including Ferg's are now closed. They are fenced off and have Centrium signs posted all along the street. I would think demolition should start soon.

Now there are people asking for their house address to be changed from 4 which for the Chinese is deemed unlucky. In time we'll just have to give all homes and units names.

Lots of activity at the site today. It's fenced off and there are a number of workmen and some equipment. Opening ceremony tomorrow.

After a strange hiatus things appear to be happening again. The protective pedestrian fencing is going up, There are a couple of trailers on site, drilling equipment and some sewer pipes.

There is a picture framing shop just North of the site and it's closing down. I asked them if it was because of the Centrium and they said yes, but since they started their close out sale their lease has been extended until March 2011.

Interesting update. The whole site is now completely fenced off with high metal fencing. Maybe they could yet beat Hullmark at putting shovels in the ground. No prep work here.

I just walked past the site. The parking lots were officially closed on September 1st and yellow "caution" tape is now blocking all of the entrances. Basically the only thing on the site is the advertising billboard. It certainly looks as if they are ready to start.

It was a slow start, but the plaza is really coming down now. What a mess! They are spraying water to keep the dust down, but I think a lot of people are going to be vacuuming and dusting an awful lot.

At around 1:00pm this afternoon some heavy excavating equipment arrived at the site.

Just took a look. They have erected fencing around most of the site, presumably with a plan to let the cars currently parked there out. There are signs "danger demolition." Some equipment is now in place at the back of the plaza. I would imagine they are setting all this up ready to start in...

To each their own Therion. Proximity was of course the major factor, Metro was just across the street, and while nothing to write home about I preferred it. I don't like the Loblaws store at all. It's badly laid out, often out of items and the deli counter is surly and slow. I do like the view...

I agree Mile High. I live at the Sheppard Centre apartments and the Metro was so convenient. It's ludicrous that all these stores closed so early. I have to use the Loblaws at Empress Plaza now, but I hate it. It's been 7 months.

I noticed today that there is drilling in the alley behind the old Metro store. Won't be long.

I spoke too soon. The fencing and the equipment have been removed and nothing whatsoever is happening at the site now.

There is some action at the site now. A wide area of the parking lot has been fenced off and they are drilling / digging. Several pieces of heavy equipment at the site.

I went into the sales office yesterday and asked when demolition would begin. The agent said it would be about another month. Pity they didn't extend the lease of the Metro supermarket, I really miss it.

Just went shopping at the Metro. Noticeably losing stock now. Meat and fresh produce still coming in, but other shelves getting depleted. All greetings cards gone. Little shelves by the cahiers are empty. There are some "bargain bins" and I imagine they will become more plentiful. It's rather...

Thanks for the clarification. They seem to be as confused as their workers about their projects.
