    MoveOntario 2020: GO Transit Electrification

This calc should probably take operating costs (among other things) into account for it to be even partially useful, especially since that's primarily what the TTC really cares about. They're looking for the most operational-savings bang for the buck, not the least capital-per-rider, as they're...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

That's what happens when a society chooses to properly funds it's public sector. TTC would love to do this...but we voters consider it gravy.

    Transit City Plan

I know I'm beating a dead horse a bit here, as this has been stated MANY times, but....LRT can be automated. For example, the tunneled portion of ECLRT is/was to be automated.

So, you're asking if it's both too much, and/or not enough??? Why can't the porridge be just right? Or at the very least close enough? Is it so bad it has to sent back to the chef? You'd rather sit there waiting for your perfect porridge, stomach growling, while people at the tables around...

    Transit City Plan

That's not how that transfer works. Are you complaining about nomenclature here, or phased construction? If you short-turn half the trains, then you're imposing that same transfer on half the riders. Anyway, the two are completely different. I won't bother going into details, but for...

Would I as a passenger mind if they ran videos? Meh...don't care. As an involved citizen and transit enthusiast do I think they should run videos? I really don't care. If the accountants say it's worthwhile and the riders don't mind then, whatever.

I can't imagine that not being the case. People nearly threw a shit-fit when Miller ran those Save Transit City messages in the stations. Also, in the long term, TTC riders aren't generally as captive as they are in other cities. Stock quotes and entertainment news blaring in my face would...

    Transit City Plan

People don't take transit downtown because 'that's where the lines go'. The lines go there because that's where people are going. Sheppard's bread-and-butter is the connection to YUS, not to NYCC. Same goes for whatever gets built on Eglinton. None of this has anything to do with TC though...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

I don't think that's the case. The roads dept isn't full of transit-hating automotive ideologues, it's full of people trying to get the best they can at their given task. Right now that task is to move vehicles, because that's what they deal in. A slight tweak in their mandate, an adjustment...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

I think he's saying that the data the roads dept uses to measure volume doesn't factor-in transit very well. If their stats and targets are all based on vehicle numbers it's hard for them to to approach signal-priority effectively when it comes to buses and streetcars or car-poolers or anything...

Charges on Homes, Offices, Shops to Fund Rapid Transit

Umm....who do you think pays for those development fees in the end?

Still a lot of ignorance from the downtowners re: T.O?

That's sort of the point. There is no 'downtown'...it's an arbitrary designation. Maybe to you 'downtown' is the area bordered by Bloor, Jarvis, and Spadina, but when 905ers ask if I live downtown I've learned to just say yes, because I know by 'downtown' they mean 'old city of Toronto'. To...

Did you? The $100M was an off-the-cuff estimated sum total from those types of ads throughout the entire year. He made no mention of any additional revenue attributable to LCD screens. Maybe the screens will bump the rates a bit on TTC ads, but it's such a small amount of money I'm...

Ford Wants NFL Team For Toronto

Yeah but that Pinko Miller was actively blocking the NFL, wasn't he? He probably called it American Football, that commie bastard! Seriously...does Ford's football fandom really have any impact of whether we get a team or not? Of course not, so who gives a shit.

Still a lot of ignorance from the downtowners re: T.O?

I don't know if it's so much a 'chip on the shoulder' thing. Maybe it's just that those are the people that actually opted-in to the Toronto urban lifestyle, rather than being defaulted into it by birth. They moved here with an idealistic vision of what city life should be, and subsequently...

    MoveOntario 2020: GO Transit Electrification

Or alternatively, a flat-out "no" from Hudak might severly damage his support in the 905 and parts of the 519.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Not the way Robbie uses it. By his own numbers, as a councillor he averaged 70 calls a day, and that's including weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. You must be using the phone wrong or something.

    MoveOntario 2020: GO Transit Electrification

Maybe you should actually read the thing... There are a thousand other tidbits sprinkled throughout the report explaining why this and that should be done, and when they should be done. They also explain that even if the entire system were electrified tomorrow, several lines would see...

Who are the people buying clothing and purses at Finch? They're always blocking that corner browsing through stuff. Coffee I understand, flowers I get too...but silk scarves and handbags???
