    Midtown Toronto

There are an increasing number of retail stores shuttered recently on the Yonge Street strip north of Eglinton. Anyone have any insight into whether it is lack of demand which is killing them off versus their rents are being jacked up in advance of the expected density to make room for higher...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Do plans typically include an assessment of the transit rider catchment area expected to fill the seats? A few of the plans seem to snake along the DVP - but few people really live right beside it. This reminds me of the stretch of the Spadina line along the Allen which is pretty underutilized.

    Toronto QRC West (Queen Richmond Centre West) | 71.93m | 17s | Allied | Sweeny &Co

Not sure if posted somewhere else - but the Spacing store across the street from this is a great compliment to this building. Richmond along this stretch used to be such a deadzone place for cars to speed through - and now is one of my favourite blocks.

I think the existing older stock of rental units along Yonge in this part of town are a real treasure. If I was a small family looking to rent in the city I think these would be very appealing - great schools and amenities in a neighborhood otherwise priced out of reach. In that light, I would...

    Toronto Waterfront Innovation Centre | 53.03m | 11s | Waterfront Toronto | Sweeny &Co

I share the same question as pw20 - this is not another "MaRs" is it? Wait til that gets into the papers get on that...

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

I also think this is turning out amazing. How much of the building is built? ie. 1/2, 2/3, etc. b/c It seems like this is going to tower over its surroundings.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

I don't know if it is such a no-brainer. It would remove another whole lane from use during rush hour. Of course if I was in a bus I would definitely be saying "sweet". But for the thousands of other commuters I worry they would be saying "...this would not be happening if Rob Ford was still...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Is there also a correlation to crack smoking in the deep red areas?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Interesting to see if Doug Ford can make the transition to provincial politics. CBC had a good analysis noting the oddity that Ford Country in Toronto is also fortress Liberal in a federal election. Rob Ford and Justin Trudeau, other than being sons of politicians, could not be farther apart...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Not to stick it to Mike Layton (b/c really isn't Mikey Ford the most ridiculous example of all) - but I would like to see an end to the hereditary entitlement going on at all levels of Canadian politics. If we truly are a meritocracy then being the son of, wife of, brother of...should not be...

Roads: Illumination of the Bloor Viaduct

I would like to see tasteful lighting which brings out the architecture and materials - they way you would a beautiful cathedral and not tron-lights a la the CN tower.

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

Richmond West past Spadina used to be 3 lanes but now is one plus a construction site and a bike lane.

    Toronto Yonge Eglinton Centre | ?m | 37s | RioCan | P + S / IBI

The Yonge-Eg area is a major focus for intensification - does anyone have any insight into the typical market / demographic buying these units? How would the typical buyer in one of these towers differ from those being built downtown? Just curious (may be too broad a question - but I am just...

Global Village Backpackers Redevelopment (460 King W, Allied REIT, 3s, Gensler)

Sorry if there is a thread (looked but failed), but does anyone know what they are doing on the building a bit north on Spadina - I believe it is 96 Spadina (the one with Senses coffee). They seem to be doing some kind of pretty extensive exterior work. Thanks

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I don't think you can say that Chow is out or has no chance - given it is still early. She does definitely need to turn around her momentum though. Further, I also support the anybody but Ford concept. I personally would usually rather shoot myself in the groin than vote NDP, but if it came...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

so your voting for Ford essentially?

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

It would seem more likely that more of his supporters would gravitate to Tory than Chow on basis of where they sit on the political spectrum (maybe 80-20)? None to Ford.
