No, that's the one that remains.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

AoD, your read of my post was much more accurate to what I was trying to say, so I appreciate you reiterating my argument for diminutive. Also, your last point about choosing which projects to go after, is a point well taken, and one I will consider very seriously. There are certainly projects...

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

People only seem to have taken the "practicality" argument out of my post. Fair enough. I am just voicing my stance on the project. Also, do not confuse practicality with "boring". I think an extra 10% can be well-justified if it adds delight to a building. But I'm not convinced that Gehry is...

    Toronto L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

The metallic siding is beginning to go onto the separate sliver/entrance just north of the tower's small "podium".

Oh wow, I had forgotten they took down those homes as well! I moved to Toronto right as that was happening and had forgotten entirely. I just remembered that the old apartment building beside them was demolished.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Spectacle =/= good architecture, and people are forgetting that here. I bet Gehry could crumple up a million pieces of paper in any shape or form, and people would drool over it. Perhaps we could end up with something here that is quality architecture and makes an impact on the architecture...

    Toronto 2 St Thomas | 80.46m | 26s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

It seems nothing is sacred but I really hope they keep the remaining University Apartments, because it is such a gem. I have hope-- the development across the street is retaining the facades and rooflines of the existing detached houses there. But this entire building, and the ivy along its...

And we lost a beautiful old apartment building for this.

Gorgeous shot!!! And man, does the Delta ever look great!

77 Bloor St. W ( 2 storey rooftop conversion and canopy)

I don't see that at all. Though I think they could have incorporated the renovations in a better manner, I think a dark grey was the perfect choice; it matches with the existing building and its windows nicely. TD Bank is merely a tenant; the building owners are the ones who did the project, so...

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

The "fine grain" along Yonge is certainly changing here. But it also makes for a less abrupt transition to Bloor Street.

    Sick of "Absolutely"

Absolutely is just a more emphatic way of saying "yes", so it's not hard to see why it's entered everyday friendly conversation. Next!

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

There are various types of glazing, and ways of handling transitions between materials; where the glazing meets the sidewalk/foundation and how it meets the overhang above it. There will also be different materials than just glazing on the podium, especially along the back where it fronts on...

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

Great Gulf, and certainly Hariri Pontarini would never create something as bad as Aura. Rest assured the retail podium here will be well-executed with impressive detailing. Regardless of one's subjective opinion on the aesthetic of this project, I think people will be impressed with the...

Toronto Fort York Visitor Centre | ?m | 2s | Fort York Foundation | Patkau

To create that effect, you'd need a lot more than a coat of paint, which is essentially a 2D intervention. Some sort of well-executed sculptural frieze would be interesting, but short of that I don't think it could be made to look like anything other than a lightly-decorated expressway.

847 Dundas Street West (DAZZ Construction, 3s) COMPLETE

"Not so bad"... elaborate. Not so bad in which way? Architecturally, it's a dog's breakfast and by looking at it, there is no read on what the designer was seeking to do here other than slap a bunch of catalogue parts onto a facade without any guiding mechanism. It makes no visual sense.

Fraser Mustard Kindergarden Learning Academy (Kohn+Shnier, 2s)

I love seeing smaller projects from around town, especially institutional facilities like this, given that most of what we see on UT are residential projects. The alphabet motif looks great, as does the screen motif, pilotis, and overall materiality of the project. My dream for this sub-forum...

77 Bloor St. W ( 2 storey rooftop conversion and canopy)

Someone recently posted update pics. of this somewhere on UT, but I can't find them now. If anyone knows where they are, can they be posted here? Thanks! ps. some info. on the modernization project - it's seeking LEED Gold certification ...
