    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Hmm, good point. I never considered that a habitual everyday GO commuter who gets on and off their trains, say, in the Bay West Teamway to go to/from the PATH, might to this day never have seen the York concourse or any of the retail in the station.

Not the ones that run east-west along the south side of Front St, those will be entirely sealed, I don't think they'll have climate control systems right there but they'll get heat/cooling from the station, hence the middle-of-the-road temperature. I believe the ones that run north-south on the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yeah, I waited a little over 20 minutes at Downsview Park for a southbound train a few weeks ago, and it was standing room only when it arrived, completely full as of Wilson, left people waiting at subsequent stations.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Fair enough complaint, and I agree with you, but it's a gross exaggeration to claim either route is under a "year-long closure" no matter the context of the discussion.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Huh? The 505 and 506 aren't shut down. They're operating with buses instead of streetcars, but they're most certainly not shut down for a year, there aren't even any detours or anything currently. Where are you getting that from?

    Your picture link is broken.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It's really frustrating that the scheduled subway closures are put out at the start of the year then constantly changed on a regular basis. I went through the effort of loading all of the ones relevant to me (anything between Bloor-Yonge down across the U all the way up to VMC) into my calendar...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

To be fair, that was a very short period, and there were what, 2 streetcars with them at the time? 3? Maybe 2-4 surface stops with them mounted? Not a big sample size or a long period of time. We'll see.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

That's very unfortunate. The newer ones have tap credit/debit which IMO is a huge usability win for infrequent transit users, especially visitors to the city. The only real benefit I recall of the old ones is that you could just insert a token directly and it would automatically print an adult...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yeah, anyone who thinks MPPs seriously care about this stuff, or have any real power over Metrolinx in this matter, is in for a rude awakening.

    YRT/Viva Construction Thread (Rapidways, Terminals)

It's at most 330m from the Viva stops to the nearest part of the platform. The Viva Pink stop within the station itself is 90m from the platform, so these stops are only an additional 220m maximum--coincidentally, that is the same distance from the furthest parking spot in the station to the...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Yeah, I was really looking forward to the TYSSE opening because some of my travel patterns fit the new stations very well. But train service is so slow and outrageously unreliable north of St George. I have waited 20-30 minutes for a southbound train on the TYSSE on 2 occasions, can't remember...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

If you're referring to the recent discussion in the thread, PV station is configured with a parking lot at the north end, then the YRT bus terminal, then a concourse level for the subway station, then platform level, then another concourse level on the south side, then the TTC bus terminal...

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

There is a HUGE amount of entry/exit demand at Bloor during peak hours due to the office, shopping, and residential buildings surrounding the station. Yes, many people are transferring between lines 1 and 2, but TONS of people are entering/exiting line 1/2 as well. I think its main entrance is...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I actually think a 5min wait is excessive as this bus sits idling in the bus loop well before the train arrives, and it's there to take people coming off the train. A 2 minute wait after the train arrives should be more than enough for people to make their way to the bus. Not sure why it needs...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I don't think that's a feasible solution in places like Aurora, Newmarket, Barrie, Stouffville, Oshawa, Hamilton, and Waterloo. You would need to install bikeshare docks all over the place, tens of not hundreds of thousands of docks if you decide to go that route, or for dockless bikes you'd...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I got off at Downsview Park with just a few other people, so I can't speak beyond that.

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

This doesn't fit super well into any particular thread, but due to the big picture, I'm posting here: I tried taking a local YRT bus home from Aurora GO station today after arriving on a rush hour train; I haven't taken the YRT home in a long time, and I was reminded why today. It took about 5...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Ridership on the extension seemed pretty good during PM peak today. On the northbound subway train I was on, when we departed Sheppard West heading to Downsview Park I'd say about 60% of the seats were occupied, no standees; that seems like pretty high ridership to me. Then about 40 people were...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Looks pretty straightforward: 1) A TTC trip, which is most likely a tap-on at a subway station with a temporary reader due to faregate construction per the "0" location of the tap, for $3 2) A glitch charge of $2.15 3) A GO Bus from Union Station to Richmond Hill GO for $4.58 ($6.08 student fare...
