No, I just got back from a week in Portugal. But I took the $3 Airport Rocket to Pearson, took an Air Transat flight cuz it was$ 600 round trip, took the metro from the airport to my budget ibis hotel and didn't go out to fancy restaurants and spent most of the trip just walking around looking...

So I schlep my stuff down two flights of stairs, get on the crowded subway with luggage, transfer at Yonge/Bloor, take my luggage down the stairs, get on another crowded subway and when I'm halfway to Kipling, get off, schlep to the UPX and then pay a bunch of money when I've already done most...

Thanks! That's my feeling about it too. If someone who lives near College or Wellesley Stations doesn't save enough time to justify the cost even being so close to Union, how would it be justifiable for anyone further? But then I'm a cheap traveller. I have friends who also consider...

Great point. The signage was good because I knew what UPX was. If I didn't, it wouldn't help at all! Also, and I think there were varying opinions on this in this thread, but if you're going to say "To Airport" I think it needs to specify "PEARSON Airport" since we have two airports.

I agree. People talk about the convenience and luxury of just hopping aboard the UPX...but for me at Yonge/College, I still have to carry my luggage down two flights of stairs at College Station, and maneuver the crowds, packed subway cars, etc just to get to Union, so it's not like it removes...

I was one of the people who managed to get free tickets from the 1500 that were given away. Here are my (completely amateurish) observations from the day (which seem to contradict what a lot of others on this thread are saying). I rode from Union to Pearson and then back. Aesthetically...

I don't care what "inspired" it, just hurry up and demolish this waste of a block. Nothing useful or historic here, just the same guys renting out 4 units of knock-off clothes stepping in front of me and telling me to go inside for the brand name clothing. Doing that walk 4x per day it gets...

If I'm not mistaken, Flash on Church St is also a gay strip club.

The Beer Store: Political Reasons to Keep/Kill It

If I wanted to be pessimistic I'd say that IF this actually happens, then watch them only allow 6packs (or maaaaybe 12 packs) but keep the 2-4s monopolized by their buddies at The Beer Store. OR If I wanted to be REALLY pessimistic, this could be nothing more than a rumour floated out there...

I like it as a building, even though it's essentially just another glass box but wrapped with a nice diamond design, but after the hints we were getting I was expecting more. It almost sounded like this was going to either be something evoking older-style iconic buildings (i.e. Empire State)...

Think what you want about the aesthetics of the clock tower, but based on its status as being the place where so many LGBT people first gathered in a public place, (and the terrible abuse they suffered) I think this is a significant piece of history and I'm very happy it's being preserved.

Today they were moving the plywood out a few feet to begin work on the front of the Yonge St buildings. Can't wait for these to be done!

I completely agree. There are mostly junky looking nail shops, hair salons and stores selling garbage (which have to be fronts for something because I have no idea how they survive). It's kind of lame to have nothing but a bunch of RBCs but at least they're nice, clean and people actually use...

I always just assumed that the only reason she was involved was because she happened to be the one that the broker called, but otherwise it was all Kevin Donovan.

    Toronto YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I agree! The only one I want to see come down more is the east side of Yonge between Alexander and Maitland. That one can't get demolished fast enough for me.

I noticed that the demolition has actually begun on this site, but it was cold and I was late for work so couldn't take a picture lol

I think no matter what the cost, some people will use it, because I've seen the crazy amounts of money people spend on things even if they can't afford it. However, I think these prices are still kinda bullshit. That $300 for an airport worker's monthly pass is actually $435 because they...

Received a call from Forum this afternoon on a cell phone that has never been a land line. First time ever. One of the questions was if they contacted a cell phone or a landline. It was pretty basic, who will you vote for (or who did you advance vote for), who did you vote for last time, who...
