    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I know of people who think zipper merge equates to cutting in line.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Ontario Line will relieve the line 1 bound load (or reverse, for afternoon rush), but may also draw people from line 1 or anywhere east of the terminus.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

That garage at Cooksville is certainly the most prominent building in the neighbourhood, especially at night. Friend of mine thought it was some mega shopping centre/entertainment complex.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I don't think gates can be used here regardless. Crosstown tracks are built as part of the street - trains follow same speed limit. If we use Calgary C-Train as example (which does have gates), their tracks are built as regular rail lines in between two roadways. Their downtown section...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Or maybe pay-the-difference - TTC fare counts as a "credit" towards a GO fare, and vice versa.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Perhaps bus stops are be placed in front of the entrances, so everything will have to be at the same level.

And Japan has these melodies before each announcement on their high speed trains.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Not sure if I missed it in one of the pages here, but looks like potential GO service to London was mentioned back in early last year.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Too cheap, to acquire the appropriate system to withstand moderate wind gusts. Too chicken out, would shut down the gondola/aerial tram whenever wind gust hits 50km/h (which is quite common). But as AoD has pointed out, the main issue will be it interfering with airport operation.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Does gondola shut down at certain wind speed? Not sure if Toronto is consider a windy city.

    Roads: Traffic Signals

That green forward arrow preceding the regular green works great with the advance pedestrian phase. They should bring that in Toronto. It allows through traffic to move instead of doing the pointless wait (especially true for non-core areas). Montreal's implementation still confuses...

Maybe something like the Pearson LINK train.

Isn't the terminus technically Liberty Village? How's it going to be a dead zone?

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

They have lowered the speed limit to 40km/h in that section. As for heavy traffic, I don't think there's a real solution for that. Ring roads were supposed to serve as bypass, but area residents will be up-in-arms over that. Even with speed limit lowered, I'd still choose Yonge over Doris or...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Sounds good in theory, but are there security or other safety regulations that prevent this from happening?

They've started putting up windows on the south end. Building's taking shape.

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

With that logic, shouldn't it be: Dundas St. West to Mississauga St. or Hamilton St. (Dundas now being part of Hamilton) Dundas St. East to Kingston St. (just so Kingston Rd addresses get to keep their numbers - or they can add 3000 to all Toronto Kingston Rd. addresses.)

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

A station at Cummer should be low hanging fruit. They'll have to dig down for the launch shaft anyways. I hope that means it can be added later on.

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

With Yonge-Dundas Square ever trying to be "Times Square", re-name the street Broadway. /s

    Roads: Fantasy Proposals

Had a look at the 1921 and 1934 maps on the Route Maps page. Didn't know there were plans for multiple diagonal routes across the city/metro. Some observations: King Georges Drive, currently a small street around Keele/Eglinton; there was a section around Wilson and Bathurst (since gobbled up...
